@brownie: My son gained like crazy during everything!! Isn't it amazing?!

Here is a link for sunflower and quinoa milk. The same basic principle can be applied to any nut/seed. Same with making your own butters (which are great for supply).

@anbanan15: I didn't know that about oat and rice. I don't need either in my diet (I was doing oats mostly for supply) so it's easy.

I haven't made my own milk. I didn't know you could from other things. We are moving in a few weeks and leaving our whole foods...

I haven't taken her to a doctor because she is gaining like gangbusters. I'm seeing concerns so I am just doing it. It isn't consistent like my sons yet. She does have some beautiful breastfeed poops which my son never had.

@brownie: yea rice and oat go together like dairy and soy with about 50% being reactive to both. I would do both too and then if you wanted to later trial oat back in after being at baseline for awhile. Hopefully this will do the trick and you won't have to eliminate more!

Do you make your own "milk"? It's easy to do and that way you can make some they are not as easy to find on the shelf like sunflower and quinoa. You can really use any but or seed to make some.

My elimination was worse with my second, she could only tolerate 3 foods, but she outgrew whatever it was much faster (suspected FPIES. She didn't vomit like DS did but had the blood in her stools from everything. We saw the same docs we used for DS and they said it didn't matter what we called it the treatment was the same, avoid the foods, so we didn't do further testing for her regards to that).

@anbanan15: yeah so I have been dairy and soy free since January for her. Though the times I have suspicion of butter (going out to eat) I haven't seen a reaction. So I hoped we may be home free.

I think I am going to go off all oats and rice. The others I think I can avoid for a week and trial. Because that would very significantly limit my "milk" options.

@brownie: and sorry you have to deal with this again! It does get a little easier the second time around just because you know what to expect and what to do.

From an FPIES standpoint rice and dairy/soy are the most common triggers, but when it comes to FPIES anything goes and can be a trigger. If your looking to narrow it down and eliminate I would start with rice and all forms, simply because it is the most common and go from there. Good luck!

Rice is probably the number reactor for fpies... it's what got us our dx.

@hellobear: The elimination isn't that bad. The worst part is watching baby hurting and not knowing/being able to fix it. Even taking the offender out, it will be a bit before she is better.

i am not an FPIES mama but did some reading about it before when my LO had MSPI and i believe rice is a big trigger specifically for FPIES dx but I don't remember all the specifics. :( hope you guys figure it out soon! i know the elimination part is soooooo hard *hugs*

Which is more likely an intolerance to almonds, cashews, or rice? We are dairy and soy free already (just on the off chance). Baby girl has had intolerance symptoms (reflux starting after dinner yesterday, mucous and runny greenish stools and reflux starting after lunch today) yesterday and today.
