@yellowbird: thank you for responding! It is a little sharp, but they said it was not an option to file because he was so squirmy :( I don't know if it is that or now the mesiodens (spelling, not sure!) poking through but nursing is no fun now!

@scg00387: this happens all the time!!! I agree with your dentist to just be extra diligent about keeping it clean. Hopefully it isn't sharp anywhere. He will be fine. Most of my kiddo patients grind their front teeth down a lot anyway so it may be a nonissue.

@MrsScallop: @travelgirl1: @mrskc: thanks :(

@yellowbird: ah yes you are a dentist, right! He is 14 months.. He tripped and fell hard on our metal bed frame's edge; his lip bled for maybe a minute, and then he stopped crying and seemed fine. This morning I decided to see if he had any new teeth cutting because nursing was uncomfortable and... AHHH freaked out. This is the best picture I could get; but it's a giant chunk out diagonally. I at first thought the tooth shard was stuck in his upper palate, but I guess it is just an extra tooth that I couldn't see before?

We went into the dentist, obviously, and he said there wasn't much we could do beyond the fluoride, watch it carefully, and have it fixed once he was older :( :( Please tell me this happens often!

didn't find anything in search, anyone have any experience? Went to the dentist and it is fractured for sure, down to the dentin. :( :( He recommended brushing after nursing, and using a tiny bit of fluoride on the tooth at night (LO is 14 months).

Hoping it doesn't get infected or a cavity, which would entail going under general anesthesia to fix it. Ack! Anyone else have this happen?
