Oh my DH gets weird bumps in his ear cartilage and I get them right under my jaw line near my ear and they come and go. They're not fixed and seem small and hard under the skin! It's probably nothing but just ask at the next checkup to calm your worst fears maybe?

It should just be a lymph node, LO had (has? haven't checked in a while) them too when he was an infant. See the first bullet here: http://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2010/10/parents-concerned-lump-child.html

Thanks everyone. Consensus seems to be that if it's movable it's a good sign. I'll call Monday and see if they want us to come
In or wait 2 weeks for her 2 month appt. you all have helped calm me down and I really needed that!

@kjpugs: I felt the exact same thing on C before. I was told it's a lymph node, it's common to feel them on the back of a baby's head. They're the size of a small pea and roll around under the skin. I'm not a doctor though, so I'd still ask your pediatrician just be 100% sure! But I wouldn't freak out :)

Mine has one of those! I asked my doctor about it and she said it's either a swollen lymph node or fatty deposit. She said it's nothing to worry about if it moves freely, doesn't bother her, and doesn't get bigger. Sounds like yours is similar! I freaked out too, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.

My daughter had one like that on her scalp behind her ear. Was totally normal/benign. It's pretty common from what I recall. I can't remember what they're called though.

DD is almost 7 weeks. I was supporting her head and felt a little bump. It's tiny- smaller than a pea- an definitely under the skin so not a bug bite. I can kind of roll it around though- it's not fixed like a bump from a fall, etc would be. I have no idea what this could be and it is FREAKING ME OUT. it's at the base of her skull behind her ear.

Anyone ever see anything similar? Of course it's the weekend now :( I don't think this warrants a trip to the ER but I am going to call my ped to make an appt ASAP. Oh and she's acting totally normal.
