At DD's 4 month appt yesterday the ped asked me if she has started showing signs of stranger anxiety ( which includes people and places). I think it's just a phase they go through and it's not surprising they get scared. Every time we enter a big public place she FREAKS THE HECK OUT!! I'm talking full out meltdown with tears and screaming so hard she stops breathing. NOTHING calms her down. Here are the places she's done this:</p> <p>1) The mall (or more specifically, the entrance to Nordstrom... never got past the entrance!)</p> <p>2) Church (which for us is held in a high school building, high ceilings and lots of people)</p> <p>3) Jordan's Furniture (again, lots of people and high ceilings)</p> <p>There have also been times when she's entered these places (or similar places) and she was FINE. </p> <p>Once she finally calmed down after sobbing with a bottle nipple in her mouth for more than 30 minutes.</p> <p>Once she cried until she fell asleep (in the ergo). (CIO while being held??? oh my...)</p> <p>The last time it happened, I just brought her outside and she calmed down, then brought her back inside where she freaked again... we went out and in 3 times and then she was fine.</p> <p>Help!!! Does she just need to get used to being out and about? I think the noises scare her more than anything else. I'm so wary of bringing her anywhere because the meltdown is so stressful and I hate to see her cry so much. </p>
