I didn't even know there were such apps! With DS or DD I never recorded a thing, just followed instinct. I think using an app to help me change nappies, feed etc I would get to a stage where is update know how to function without it. I'm an addict like that LOL

I used it as long as I was BFing (otherwise I'd forget which side, etc.). Then I continued to use it to track naps/night time sleep, because I knew X's maximum wake times, so I could check the app when we were out and about and know how long since he woke up, and how long we had until total meltdown/next nap time. But once that X is down to 1, fairly consistent nap, and consistent bedtime/wake-up times, I stopped using it. That was a little over a month ago, so I used it daily for 16 months. And yeah, it was pretty awesome to stop using it.

I haven't deleted the app yet though, because sometimes it's nice to see how things were way back in his newborn days. It reminds me to be so grateful for where we are now, because getting up 5+ times a night, spending 4+ hours nursing daily is rough. I'm not sure when I'll be ready to delete it.

@BlueWolverine: i'm still a slave to it because 1) i like stats 2) i can't remember what side i'm on! 3) i'm used to it. now i'm just tracking nursing, my pumping stash and her nighttime sleep. we'll see when i give it up.

I used Total Baby. I do still keep track of BM's and nighttime sleep. I think if I weren't kind of forced by day care to let go a bit, I'd still be on that thing all the time. I especially liked the bar graph timeline that showed me her sleep, feedings, diapers, etc. That said, I also love just taking care of and hanging out with baby without my phone.

Good for you! I was also 100% attached to the baby app when DD was little. It took quite a while for me to wean myself off, but I felt so free once I finally did it. I still use the app to track her growth, but other than that, I refuse to look at it. Those were actually pretty dark times for me when I couldn't do anything without the app... It was a way for me to try to feel in control of a situation that felt out of control.

I was addicted to my app until LO was 6 months old - I tracked absolutely everything! Then, I updated my iPod and it erased everything, even though I thought I had backed it all up to the cloud. I was lost for about a week, trying to write things down on paper and input it onto the computer version of my app, but it became too much of a pain. I eventually gave it all up for good around 7 months and now I feel so free! I didn't realise how much time I was spending every day putting in all that info - it was great to have it but man was it time consuming!

We used it for the first 4-5 months or so. I keyed in everything from daycare for a month or so and got tired. I do keep track of pumping & nursing now though.

i'm still addicted to it! haha LO is 6.5 months. I hate feeling leashed to it. I've gotten better though - if during the night, i'll go fill it in (5 m Left) after i put her back down. during the day i'll usually surf on my phone while she nurses anyway so i just enter when she eats.

also, it has been immensely helpful with knowing what solids she is eating and when she's pooping cause she's had some serious constipation issues! if I didn't have the app i'd prob be writing it all down anyway, the app is just easier/neater.

Yup! It felt kinda liberating to stop tracking everything! When I went back to work I continued to track night sleep, nursing, and BM's (only because she went a month with very few!), but this only lasted a week. It was too much of a pain then. The only thing I still log are the milestones so I have them saved for whenever I get around to doing her baby book.

During my maternity leave, DH and I religiously recorded every little thing A did. Diapers, feeds, sleeping, baths, spit up -- anything. If A looked sleepy, we checked the phone to see if it was time. If she looked hungry, we checked the phone just to see how long it had been (she was always fed when hungry, regardless of what the phone said). A is now three months old and just started day care last week. While day care gives me a sheet everyday that tells me about her naps, diapers and feeds, I don't have the patience or time to enter all that into the app. So, other than curiosity about her overnight sleep (she STTN!), we have abandoned the app. And I feel free!

Baby looks/acts tired? Naptime! Baby is hungry--feed her and don't bother timing each side. She'll be fine. I feel so free. The app was great for newborn Baby A and I'm so happy we used it when we had no clue what we were doing, but it feels great to not look for my phone before I do anything with baby.

Anyone else abandon strict recordkeeping?
