@Chuckles: lol, usually just the hallways/stairs and definitely after watching a scary movie! At least thanks to kids we pretty much have night-lights all over the house now.

@josina: Ooh, alfredo sauce and pasta sounds delicious (says the person doing Noom who definitely doesn't need that  ). I am also creeped out by the dark, but mostly now after I've read or watched something scary. Two nights ago in the middle of the night I wanted to go downstairs to turn down the thermostat, but I had been reading something creepy before bed, so I woke DH up and made him do it. Is it just hallways and stairs or rooms in general? I bet kids have no idea that our silly fears like that stay with us into adulthood.

Getting in late, but great post idea. :) We need more of these.

What is one dinner you have enjoyed lately that your kids will also eat? A favorite meal for us is chicken Alfredo and garlic bread, kids love it when I make the 'special cheese sauce'.

What is one wintery/cold weather thing you are looking forward to? No more working nights/weekends ( I do photography on the side so have been super busy), getting to wear my Uggs, cozying up indoors, and Christmas!

What is your favorite Halloween candy? Reese's PB Cups. Also a Mounds/Almond Joy lover!

What is one weird phobia or fear you have? Dark hallways/stairways at night? I haven't done this in awhile, but if the lights are off and I'm going up stairs / down a hallway I will sometimes run, lol, like something is behind me in the dark.
I also HATE going up steep hills in a vehicle, especially ATV's, I am terrified of flipping backwards.

Fun!

Current meal: We discovered that DD (11 mo) loves squishing and squeezing quinoa recently so we’ve been making Mexican-ish quinoa with black beans and tomatoes and peppers a lot. It also makes a very adorable mess 😃

Winter thing: Same as @Chuckles: and @Lahela017: seeing my daughter learn about snow for the first time! She has the best “what the heck is that?!” faces so I cannot wait. I’m also really looking forward to quiet holidays at our house. We usually travel to see both sides, which is exhausting, so I’m looking forward to not having to do that. Obviously we’ll FaceTime, etc. but it’s going to be so nice to just relax.

Fave candy: Milky Way or Twix—anything with caramel

Weird fear: Things that touch my feet while swimming in rivers/lakes. Realistically I know there’s nothing that can hurt me in a peaceful mountain lake, but if something touches my foot underwater I always have flashes of sea monsters coming up from the deep. Mind you I have snorkeled with sharks with no fear, but the surprise/can’t see it factor freaks me out.

Current meal: like others it seems quesadillas are popular :) My milk-allergic son has his with the daiya cheese and we have to sneak chicken in suuuuper small strands into his, but it counts!

Wintery thing: Hot chocolate! I used to hit up the hot cocoa machine at work in the cold mornings so I got a large tin of hot chocolate mix last week to make it at home.

Candy: Reeses. Heath bars are awesome but no one gives those out haha

Phobia: Don't really have one. I wouldn't consider myself scared of heights, just a healthy respect for what can kill me. It isn't a phobia/fear but I have a deep hatred for people who chew with their mouths open.

@Lahela017: @Chuckles: yes to the Mounds! I like almond joy too but the dark chocolate/coconut has been my favorite since childhood and something my mom totally passed to me.

What is one dinner you have enjoyed lately that your kids will also eat? The little one asked for more broccoli last night from the Trader Joe’s mandarin orange chicken I tossed it with and I was bummed because I had eaten it all and wanted to give her more! Big one is working on some food anxiety in her therapy and this week she tries some pear! She did not like it, but she did not spit it out which was a bonus.

What is one wintery/cold weather thing you are looking forward to? I cannot wait for better weather. FL has had some glimpses of cool but it hasn’t really turned yet. Excited to be outside more for neighborhood walks, backyard fires, and cozy food.

What is your favorite Halloween candy? Love being happily given all the Mounds, but I also really like Snickers, Milky Way midnight, Reese’s anything, skittles... my absolute favorite candy is Take 5 but I never see them at Halloween.

What is one weird phobia or fear you have? I don’t love balloons and I really HATE them popping. I cried at a party as an adult once thanks to balloon anxiety. Super fun! I’m way more relaxed about them after having kids though - they’ve desensitized me for sure.

Current favorite dinner: Chicken chip....essentially crushed up tortilla chips coated chicken that has been baked. I save all of the crumbs from the bags of chips we may have and keep them in a freezer bag in the freezer so they don't turn rancid. Other than that, my youngest is PICKY so it's tough to find a meal that he loves too.

Winter thing: Christmas lights and just the decorations themselves.

Favorite candy - mini butterfingers and baby ruths and all the reese's PB cups!

Weird phobia - mayo. Seriously it's so gross and I can't eat anything remotely creamy without first knowing what's in it. I won't let a jar into my house.

What is one dinner you have enjoyed lately that your kids will also eat? My kid ate chicken noodle soup last night!

What is one wintery/cold weather thing you are looking forward to? Fireplace going with snow falling outside! This is my second winter in the midwest so I'm looking forward to some beautiful scenery.

What is your favorite Halloween candy? The tiny Snickers!

What is one weird phobia or fear you have? Meteors! I am less fearful than I used to be, but I always have an eye out for them when I'm outside and think every plane I hear is the "big one" that killed the dinosaurs.

What is one dinner you have enjoyed lately that your kids will also eat?
My newly-minted 4 year old is in a very picky stage and won't eat much of what we like for dinner. He does eat fish sticks, however, and we discovered some amazing fish sticks from Costco that make great tacos. So he gets two sticks and we make fish tacos

What is one wintery/cold weather thing you are looking forward to?
We live in Texas, so I'm looking forward to walks in the woods without dripping in sweat!

What is your favorite Halloween candy?
I love almond joy, but I never buy them. My husband loves the assortment bags, and buys them this time of year. I steal all the almond joys!

What is one weird phobia or fear you have?
I have this recurring dream of driving off the road. Texas has really, really high highway overpasses and I'm always white-knuckling the steering wheel on them!

I'll play :)

What is one dinner you have enjoyed lately that your kids will also eat? Quesadillas. My daughters favorite meal right now (hers is cheese only, ours usually have beef or chicken added)

What is one wintery/cold weather thing you are looking forward to? :meh: it being under 100. I'm over summer. I don't think we're going to have a very "cold" winter this year. I'd love to need a jacket and sitting by a fire, that'd be lovely.

What is your favorite Halloween candy? I'm a chocolate girl. Usually Snickers, but 100 Grand are yummy also.

What is one weird phobia or fear you have? Drowning. I'm not sure why. I think its the fear of not being able to breath? I'm a good swimmer and we have a pool...the fear is more of drowning in large bodies of water I guess.

We make pizzadillas - pizza quesadillas - and we all love them! Easy to customize, they reheat well, and freeze well. Not the healthiest but not the worst either. We serve them with a big salad. https://www.budgetbytes.com/pizzadillas/

We have a rule in our house that if it snowed while we were sleeping or if it's snowing when we wake up, we make hot chocolate! So I'm looking forward to that! But also just playing in the snow with DD - winter is her favorite season and she adores snow!

I LOVE almond joys. Thankfully DH and DD don't like them so I can snag any that make their way into our house. DD's three sets of grandparents are putting together Halloween goody bags for us and they said they are putting all of our favorites in it!

I am terrified of mice. I can look at them at a pet store or as someone's pet and think they are cute. But if I see one in our basement or outside I freak out. Like jump on the table or hide from them. One time our cat caught a mouse in an old apartment we lived in, I stumbled on her with it and I ran back to our bedroom screaming and hid in the closet. Which caused the cat to drop the mouse, so then a bloody mouse was running around. Totally irrational but they freak me out so much!

Love this thread!
What is one dinner you have enjoyed lately that your kids will also eat?
Shrimp and bacon and brussel sprouts. If I added soba noodles it would've been the ultimate meal for our family.

What is one wintery/cold weather thing you are looking forward to? Fires in the fireplace at home and having my 11 month old see snow where she's old enough to be aware of the weather

What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Tootsie rolls and anything Reese's (or any combo of chocolate and PB)

What is one weird phobia or fear you have?
Birds. I think they are really pretty but their sharp beaks and claws totally freak me out.

Our favorite dinner lately that everyone eats is very simple: make your own hummus wraps. Oldest and adults make wraps with chicken, feta, cucumbers, etc and the little two eat it separately. Stonefire mini naan are loved by all!

Cold weather: well cold weather is a relative thing in TX .:. I know I can’t complain about that this year though since we’re all stuck at home and it’ll be easier to be outside in less severe weather. I’m from MI though and am sad we can’t fly up and hope to see snow at Christmas this year. Maybe we’ll get a decent snow in TX?? Last year we had one day of flurries ... no snow that has stuck since 2015.

Favorite candy: I really don’t know ... I’m a little sad not to pick through the variety my kids would get trick or treating! We are just doing things at home so I’ll buy some of their favorites. I do love a few mallowcreme pumpkins - the ones that taste like candy corn.

Fears: it’s funny you mention sinkholes because I have a super strong claustrophobia related fear of getting trapped - I can’t even think about tunnels and caves and anywhere with limited space. Makes me skin crawl and I definitely have nightmares about having to crawl through small spaces! Ugh my skin is crawling right now 🤪

What is one dinner you have enjoyed lately that your kids will also eat? I’m three weeks postpartum so I haven’t really cooked anything legitimate lately! They have been enjoying all the meals from our gracious friends and family.

What is one wintery/cold weather thing you are looking forward to? We don’t have snow here but I’m excited to be rained in! We homeschool and our schedule is lighter in December (our weekly homeschool group takes a break). Though we usually like to be busy and out and about I’m excited to be “stuck” inside snuggling my newborn and bringing out all the indoor activities (fort making, play dough, fake snow, art projects, board games, toys that have been stored in the garage, read-a-louds and etc.) for my older three. I’m also excited for our first Christmas as a family of six and putting up a Christmas tree! We haven’t had a tree since we had kids and my oldest has been asking for one for a few years now! Due to covid it will probably be a less busy holiday season, which I would normally be sad about... but trying to embrace it and look forward to it! As for me and dh I’m looking forward to cozy movie nights!

What is your favorite Halloween candy? Candy corn brings back nostalgia! I used to love them so much as a kid. I guess I really like anything chocolate though...

What is one weird phobia or fear you have? I don’t know if I have one.... hmmmmm...... I am fearful our country will turn communist... I’m fearful our government will start restricting everything and try to control and indoctrinate our kids...

I'm also looking forward to playing in the snow with my 18 month old. She was too little last year to get it. I'm pretty worried about winter during covid, and being stuck in the house so much, so I'm trying to stay positive and think of outside activities we could still do... DD needs to get outside for both our sanities. If it were just me and DH I'd say I'm looking forward to enjoying warm drinks and playing board games in our cozy house.

My favorite halloween candy is Mounds. I haven't had one in forever though!

Anyone want to share their answers to these questions?

What is one dinner you have enjoyed lately that your kids will also eat? I made the Smitten Kitchen chicken marsala meatballs recently. I would try to make them a little more flavorful next time, but they were pretty good and my 7yo loved them.

What is one wintery/cold weather thing you are looking forward to? Fires in the fireplace at home and having my 11 month old see snow where she's old enough to be aware of the weather

What is your favorite Halloween candy? I really love the mini Butterfingers because I would never buy a full size one for myself

What is one weird phobia or fear you have? I am irrationally afraid of sinkholes and being buried alive. We don't live in an area where sinkholes really ever happen, so it makes no sense. I'm also very afraid of spiders, but at least there are actually spiders around, and we get really huge ones (to me, at least) making webs in our backyard.
