That caused the current filter to 'conform' to it and that's why it would only fit in there and not the new one. The water leaking was from the build-up of the filter not being in there correctly. Has this happened before when changing the water filter?</p> <p>When we changed our water filter for the first time, we actually had a technician do it because he was already there fixing our fridge. He told us that when you change the water filter, you should let the water run for about a gallon or so of water to get all the old water out through the system and get rid of any air bubbles. It just means the water dispenser and the ice maker won't work so don't stress about that. I've now turned off the water supply, but I"m worried it will mess up the fridge, but if I didn't it would leak. I guess I"m going to have to call a repair man since hubby is out of town for work. :( </p>
