I didn't need anything different after my c-section. I'd just see what she's craving and bring that!

Oh DEFINITELY some yoga pants. And compression band was a MUST HAVE. My hospital gave them to me for free so I don't know if she will already have one. And if she didn't bring a boppy with her (or didn't receive one as a gift already), I'd highly recommend one. It's great for BFing or just holding the baby. It's tough holding the baby when you're all stitched up!

I agree with all of the above. I found nursing nightgowns were so much better than any sort of yoga pant because of the incision. My hospital have me a compression band though. I loved my hubby bringing me Starbucks each day. Could you give her a coupon for helping out one day at her house?

@birdofafeather: Yoga pants if they are bigger (I bought a couple pairs a size up, they weren't as tights, and fit my new curvier body) but yes drawstring really is the way to go! I loved them so much and still wear them all the time!

A binder is a compression band that you velcro aroudn your midsection to keep everything "tight" and together. I wore it for weeks post delivery.

Also second fruit/veggie tray/sandwich stuff/muffins. Easy to grap items.

@birdofafeather: I think some GIANT pants that won't rub on the lower tummy at all or a bigger maxi-type dress/skirt that I could wear higher than normal were the best things for me to wear because I didn't want anything touching the incision. The hospital gave me a binder, but if they haven't given her one, that is key.

Other than that I would just say the same as you would take for a regular delivery.

I second the fruit and veggies! That's what I wanted (along with lattes)!

I second the binder. It's like a compression band to wrap around the abdomen to kind of hold everything together.

Also, food wise, maybe don't bring her anything too heavy in the hospital. I had a lot of gas pain and heavy food just made me feel worse.

Is there anything she's craving? Hospital food gets old quickly. When people came to visit, I always asked them to bring me sushi :)

I don't think I needed anything different than a vaginal mama.
What I really liked was getting veggie and fruit trays. We got a lot of cookies and brownies and lasagnas that were really heavy, delicious but heavy. Laundry service would be nice too. Bending was difficult for the first few days.

@Foodnerd81: it was planned (he was breech) but earlier than she thought due to low fluids. i'll check in with her to see what she has to go home in! that's a good idea!

@LuLu Mom: oh, drawstring pants! i lived in my yoga pants after my vaginal birth, but i didn't know if those would hit the incision? what's a binder?

Pick her out some new yoga pants or black drawstring pants, I lived in those after my section and make sure she has a binder, if not pick her up one, it was a lifesaver.

Was it a planned c section? I did not have one but I have read about people not wanting to wear their going home outfit bc if the stitches- so she might want a maxi dress from home or something?

My BFF had her beautiful baby boy last night! I'm going to visit in a couple days while they're still at the hospital and I want to bring something for her specifically. Anything specific to recovery from c-section that was helpful? (I already have some booby tubes to help soothe when her milk comes in! I also plan on bringing food if they are craving anything!)
