Interested in this.. I just started working part time from home and I would not change that or my kids going do daycare or housekeeping or our mothers helper that comes once a week.

I have 3 under 5! It's definitely doable, but we live in an expensive city and had to change a lot about the way we do things to make it work and keep everyone happy. We prioritized our sanity over some financial goals. I went from working full time to part time, we have a regular nanny on the days I work, my older 2 are in preschool 5 days a week, we have a weekly housekeeper, we have a regular babysitter to help in the evenings and a mothers helper for the summer when all 3 kids are home from school (mainly to help with swimming supervision). We are doing great but paying a fortune in childcare and preschool in order to give our kids the attention they need at their young ages and so we have the time to keep our household and marriage in check. I wouldn't change things for the world, but I think "something" has to give...for some people its the clean house, etc. for us it's readjusting our savings goals!

ETA: The biggest challenges for us was the fighting between #1 and #2 when #2 got to be about 20 months and then being super pregnant/having a newborn and not having the patience to deal with it and dealing with all the illnesses from the germs the toddlers/preschoolers bring home!

Following! I'd love to hear more about it. I only have one, always said I would have only two, but now part of me feels that 3 is the magic number for our family.

When I used to babysit big families I remember a lot of moms telling me that 2-3 was the hardest transition but after that it was easy.

There's a guy I work with who has 4. When I was pregnant he told me nothing is as bad as the transition from 0 to 1. He said it's just such a whole change in your life, that additional kids didn't have nearly as much impact.

I thought the transition from 1-2 was easy and mine are only 20 months apart. Curious to see what adding a 3rd would be like but I think we are going to wait another year or so.

Only embarking on the 1 to 2 train a the moment but I've also been told by many people that 2 to 3 is an easy transition compared to 1 to 2.

Like everything else, it probably depends on the family, the particular kiddos (how they sleep, etc) and the spacing. I have a sister who has 3 and she said the transition from 2-3 was brutal. But she had a son in her first marriage.....then didn't have another until her second marriage 7 years later. So when she went from 1-2, she had a 7 year old and an infant. Then less than two years later, another infant.

I think having a toddler and an infant always has the potential of being a lot of work., so I can see why that was harder for her.

in at this point what seems like a fantasy, I would have the energy, stamina, patience, money and resources to have 3 children. we have one and are looking at TTC #2 before we venture on to say we'll have a 3rd. But i'm not closing the door yet.

Curious about this, I hope others chime in. I have been really sad lately that we might stop at two. The possibility of 3-4 is still out there, and as mine get older, I definitely frequently find myself wanting more.

Does anyone have three kids and would like to share their experience? I'm curious how the transition was from 2 to 3 kids. I've heard it brings you to a new level of chaos as you are outnumbered and are basically in survival mode, but I know people who loved having three kids.
