He sleeps in either a warm sleeper or something lighter with a sleep sack. Once it warms up we will probably ditch the sack. His sleep stays the same(not necessarily good) whichever way he is put to bed.

We used sleep sacks for a few months, but now that it's warmer, LO only wears PJs to bed.

@aprk: I definitely don't think it's too late. We still use sleep sacks and LO is 8.5 months. He sees it as a sleep cue as well, and use the light cotton ones for the summer as well.

i don't think it's too late but our LO has always just slept with footed pjs after being swaddle weaned.

as for the sleep cues, we have several but without a doubt the sound machine has been a life saver. we take it everywhere!

@aprk: I don't think it's too late at all. He'll probably hardly notice because he'll still have his arms and legs unrestrained. We have some light cotton ones for summer. Not at all trying to advertise but I was noticing last night that someone is selling the one that we have on the HB classifieds! Maybe a good way to get one cheap in case your LO doesn't take to it :)

Now that it's summer, we haven't been using the sleep sacks and he does just fine. Some nights when it was really hot, we just had him in his onsie. We will probably go back to sleep sacks once it gets cold again.

when we first ditched the swaddle, we used a sleepsack for a couple of reasons--first, it was winter and i felt like he needed another layer, and second, it was a step in the sleeptime routine. however when it got warm enough, i stopped using the sleepsack and his sleep didn't change (i'm not saying he was a good sleeper, i'm just saying it didn't change), so it's not like the absence of that sleep cue messed things up.

@Smurfette: I'm all backwards about this, haha. I think every sleep sack we have is super warm! Oy.

@MrsF: that's what I'm worried about - that we lost the sleep cue of the swaddle. I was thinking about starting it now, especially for naps. He's only 11 weeks so I don't think it's too late?

I like the sleep sack because it's a good sleep cue for her. We can go to my SIL's or wherever and as long as she has her sleep sack on she knows it's time to nap. I also like that on a warm night I can just leave her in a diaper or a onsie and she's still covered. Whatever works for you though - it's certainly not necessary!

I'm on my third kid and I've never used a sleep sack. Ever. And my youngest is now sleeping 7 to 9hr stretches at night (10 weeks old )....I don't think sleep sacks are necessary.

Xander sleeps in just footed pjs! I sort of attempt to swaddle his lower half, but last night he was just squirming around before he fell asleep and undid his blankets. He slept just fine in the footed pjs and nothing else!

Last week A weaned himself from the swaddle, and has been doing great. (Well, he could sleep longer and that would be lovely, haha, but his sleep has been pretty much the same as when he was swaddled).

But, given how quickly he ditched the swaddle, I sort if forgot to transition him to a sleep sack. Is it too late? Does it even matter? Does anybody else's kid sleep in just footed pjs?
