Ugh, I hear you. I had a full on break down the other day. I have GD as well, and I had five days in a row where I had to leave work for appointments, and a couple of my clinics always run no less than an hour behind, but yet you're not allowed to call and ASK if they're running behind. So, makes it a little hard to go on a lunch hour. On day 3 of appointments, they kept me waiting for an hour and then said "Oh sorry, we forgot that the dr was going to take a conference call that he told me about this morning". Like, really??
The worst thing is the dinner situation. I'm supposed to eat dinner and test 1 hour after my first bite, but I'm also supposed to walk before I test. How the heck, are you supposed to make dinner, eat it, get somewhat cleaned up, walk 30 minutes and be back in time to test 60 minutes after the first bite?!? I'm really not sure what world these medical professionals live in sometimes.

I was literally saying this to DH yesterday! I was running a training session all day and I could hardly stop the session so I could test my blood sugar, could I?! Then I got stuck in traffic on the way home and didnt get to the doctors office in time to pick up my prescription for test strips and needles, it was closed when I got there....and I couldn't pick it up first thing today because I had to work! So Ive had to buy test strips to last the weekend - so expensive!! I said to DH I don't know how anyone has time to be diabetic!!

Oh and don't get me started on the appointments! Im pretty sure work think Im inventing appointments!!

@MrsCB: its tough because in the early and latter stages of pregnancy you do have a lot of appointments and tests. Maybe try switching to an OB that has weekend hours?

I hear you...I was chastised at every GD appt if I wasn't able to walk 30 minutes after I ate...um, I'm working, so if I eat, then have to walk, and then test, then have a snack, then have lunch, then go for a walk, then test, then snack - it makes for not a lot of time at my desk! Add in pee breaks (like all the time) and a couple of meetings a day - when was I supposed to work?! Yeeesh.

Ugh - I hear ya! My Dr. was ALWAYS delivering a baby during my appointment... so I'd get there, after waiting for 45 minutes ask what the deal was, then get told she'd been another half hour, and was an hour behind from the patients in front of me. UGH! I had sooo much work waiting for me every time I got back.

I hear you - the past 3 weeks I've had 3 appointments cancelled/rescheduled last minute on me. I'm a teacher and my substitute has to be booked well in advance.

The second time (for my ultrasound) I went a little pregnancy crazy when they called me at 7am and told me my 11am apt was cancelled. I said that they would have to find a time to take me that day because my sub was already booked and I have to use sick days to go to these appointments.

They got me in, but it's annoying how they think my life literally revolves around my appointments!

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I feel like the world expects me to make my life revolve around my pregnancy. First my OB's office was amazed when I had to leave for an important meeting after having been there for an hour and a half. And then they were confused when I couldn't spend literally all day there for multiple appointments.

Now today I asked the GD educator if she had any suggestions for when my work day is too packed to test 2 hours after lunch (I explained on Monday I have about 45 minutes to eat before I'm booked all day). Her response? She implied I was putting my baby in danger and to make testing a priority. Nothing helpful like testing at an alternate time listed on her sheet (there were 10 times listed, with 4 specific ones circled) or testing at the end of my 45 minute eating window.

I was practically crying after I read her email :(. I would love to have a life of leisure where I can spend all day long concentrating on being pregnant and going to hours and hours of appointments. But unfortunately I have a job that can be demanding and that we count on the money from. And to compound the matter, I'm a contract employee which means I get paid hourly. I get compensated very well, but I have no sick time and I have no real lunch time even - when I'm not working I'm not getting paid.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for, I guess just a vent :(.
