I work full time (at home), but LO goes to preschool full time. We started potty training at 15 months (per the recommendation from her school). Since we did more "potty learning" it took a bit of time. She was mostly potty trained by 22 months (by that, I mean she would still have random accidents, but 95% of the time, she was good).

I think there's more success with the fast track training as kids get older. A long weekend sounds like a great time to try!

We waited until she was ready. She was about 29mo (almost 2.5). For a few months before she asked randomly at home and we would let her potty. When she started asking at daycare we just did it the next weekend. No extra time off. Just saturday and sunday and then went into daycare on Monday with underwear. That is what daycare asked us to do. Brought in changes of clothing. It was mid-september

She had no accidents day 1. Day 2 no accidents and went poop in the potty. The poop scared her so she had pee accidents that evening. She had poop accidents for one week after that (no pee ones) before she decided she pooping in the potty was better than in her underwear. Then no real accidents except randomly at naptime. Overall- very easy!! We did use diapers/pullups overnight though and still do (she is 3).

We waited until her teachers at Daycare told us they had been having good success...and that we should try committing on the weekend. Saturday mornings we'd ask if she wanted to wear underwear...first weekend she said yes she ended up peeing on the couch. We went back to diapers after that.

The next weekend she said yes...we did it...she peed on the floor but cried when we suggested putting diapers back on. That was it...she's been in undies ever since. Just two accidents.

I should note, she was older 3 years and maybe a month or two. We had decided early on we werent going to push her - we were just going to let it happen and follow daycares queue's.

And we did the Oh Crap potty training method of blocks--so she was totally naked waist down when we were home on days 1-3, then pants/skirt with nothing underneath for another 3 or so days, then finally underwear later. She was commando at the drop-off program and I just explained why and they were fine with it.

Day 1 we had 4 accidents, day 2-3, we had 2 accidents, day 4 and 5 we had 1 accident each and then nothing for a long time after that.

He was 1 month shy of 2 1/2. When our classroom teacher told us to! Having the teachers on board will make it SO much easier, that we decided to wait until they felt he was ready.
I didn't take any time off from work - we used Oh Crap Potty Training, but did it in 2 days. Totally bottomless on Saturday, pants but no underwear on Sunday, went to school in underwear on Monday (school policy).

DD is 26 months right now, and she decided this weekend to potty train - we were on vacation but she was ready. She was holding it and telling us. woke up dry, everything. I tried to "push" it a few months ago and she was not ready but I guess she knew when she wanted too!

I work full time, but I trained LO1 when I was on maternity leave, so I was home. It took LO1 probably a full week to *really* get it, but I will say on day 5, I took her to a drop-in back up care program because I had some appointments, and she did really well (1 accident all day, which was great for a new environment and newly potty trained). Day 1-3 we really just stayed home. Day 4, we went to the park and to get Santa pictures at the mall but kept those trips really short and peed before and after.

So theoretically you could do it on a 3 day weekend and just expect 1-2 accidents on days 4 and 5 when she's back in daycare.

DD is 2.5 right now; I'm in the camp of waiting till she's ready. Daycare highly encourages, but she has peed in the potty once at home and a handful of times at school. I'm REALLY hoping she'd initiate this summer since it's easier, and so I can do either July 4th or Labor Day weekend!

Same as adira, we were trying to wait for Mem Day weekend but several of her friends at daycare got potty trained at the end of April and she really wanted to be like them so she kept asking to try earlier. We did it on a normal weekend then sent her to daycare for them to continue. It wasn't perfect, and the first week, she probably had an accident every day at daycare, and then it gradually got better. It was so so easy to do it at a time when she was interested though, so I highly recommend, even if the timing doesn't exactly work out. We didn't have to use any type of incentives (candy or stickers), the peer pressure and promise of Anna and Elsa undies was enough.

We originally planned to potty train over Labor Day Weekend, when my son was going to be 2.5, but the weekend before, he asked if he could use the potty instead of wearing a diaper, so we just went for it! We trained over that two-day weekend and then he returned to daycare with lots of changes of clothes and his teachers basically finished up the training, haha.

Two years old in the fall. Daycare said to being her in panties on a Monday. We were basically only responsible for the 1.5 hours before bed and she was fully trained (except overnight) by the end of the week. Yay daycare!

@kodybear: we did it this weekend and I don't think my son fully got it - he's only having 1 accident a day but he's going as part of the routine - after meals, before bedtime and he hasn't pooped in the potty yet because he's doing it when he naps or in the middle of the night. I am worried he's not going to be ready to use the potty at daycare tomorrow and that it will be a long transition. Even though it was a long weekend, I wish we had more time.

For our first we did it over Memorial Day weekend. It wasn't enough time though so she had a hard transition at preschool. So for our second, we did it over christmas break which was about 10 days. It was a lot better and ds transitioned pretty well at preschool! So I say during a longer break!

We did potty training over Presidents' Day weekend. He was showing a lot of signs of readiness and I was due in August, so I didn't want to wait until summer. I can see how being able to be bottomless outside would be an easier way to do it though.

I've been told it's easier to potty train in the summer. If you work full time out of the house - when did you start potty training - on a 3 day weekend? in the summer - did you take more time off from work for this? during the week between Christmas and New Years? or whenever your child told you they were ready
