Yup...DH and I had this with our super fancy Macy's mattress. It has something to do with the sealant they use to lock in the foam. Call the manufacturer...they issued us a replacement!

i was going to say the same about off-gassing... unfortunately a lot of them do that. We just bought a new mattress for ourselves recently and opted for latex instead of foam partially because we were nervous about the smells. They say it passes though!

Eep, that would drive me crazy. Did you try googling 'getting smell out of foam mattress?" I've heard of offgassing in foam matt's, but never that bad.

We bought the Sealy Naturalis Crib Mattress a few months ago to replace the traditional spring mattress my SIL gave us (it had been used with all 3 of her kids), in hopes that it might help DD sleep better. But, every time I walk in her room, it has an almost sour milk smell. At first I thought it was the diapers, but I realized it's actually the mattress, and it makes her and her blanket smell funny.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JD7TH4/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Has anyone else noticed this? What would you do? I hate to spend more money on another mattress, but I don't want her smelling like sour milk..
