@Mrs. Jacks: such an amazing thinker u have..makes for interesting company!!

Loved to hear about everyone's LOs strengths and funnies!

Today when the sitter came out of the bathroom at her house, DD shouted an enthusiastic Potty!! And high fived her. I'm surprised she didn't hand her a sticker.

@Mrs. Jacks: His temperment is much more easy going; DD was an easy baby, but DS is easier.

He's more physical than DD; he's also much more social. He wants to be involved in everything all the time, whereas DD was fine to be by herself for short periods of time. He also LOVES people and really loves to meet new people, be around people, etc... He does babble a lot, and he loves watching me sign, although doesn't he doesn't seem to be imitating us (verbally or physically) like DD was at this age. It seems more like he's so easy going he doesn't mind if we don't understand him, as long as our attention is on him and he's involved.

@Honeybee: Well, at 6 months Lala was signing and babbling and said her first words at 7 months. M still isn't really babbling reliably yet... which is fine. But she's sitting and has got a decent army crawl and can get anywhere by rolling and has some really nice fine motor skills. My guess is she's focusing on motor right now. She is so easy going that she just doesn't seem to have a desire to express herself, you know.

How about H?

@Mrs. Jacks: We have the Cloud 9 constellation ladybug which has a bunch of constellations. DD likes to go through the booklet and pick out the constellations on her ceiling. :)

Have you noticed anything with M, yet? I'm so excited to see how DS's interests and personality develop. So far, he has more my temperment (pretty easy going), but I think he might still be too young to see where his strengths are.

@Honeybee: Wow! That is super impressive! Maybe she will be an ass-or-not! (hilarious).

We're in a stars and planets phase too. Lala is very into the constellations and loves to point out the big dipper and the north star. It always means keeping her up at night, though... which I don't like!

@Mrs. Jacks: Oh, dino doctor! That's so sweet!

DD has also been into pretending she's a doctor lately, but her favorite right now is "astronaut" (or "ass-or-not" lol). We talk a lot about going to the moon, rocket ships, other planets, etc...

It's so interesting to see them develop, isn't it? From a young age (like 9 months?) I could see how analytical DD is. She used to sit for really long periods of time and try to figure our how toys worked (like cars, pull toys, or anything with mechanisms). At 18 months she started sorting, creating patterns, and got really into puzzles. Now she'll literally play with blocks for hours on end, and she has a good grasp on concepts like building/construction, architecture/design, etc... It's so interesting to see the development of those pre-math and science skills and think about what she'll do with them in the future... But she very obviously takes after her engineer daddy. :) I've always been much more language-oriented than anything else.

@Honeybee: Budding engineer, is she? I'm always fascinated by thinking about what Lala might do in the future. Right now the leading candidate in her mind is "dino doctor". I haven't had the heart to break it to her that she's actually going to have to re-create them before she becomes their doctor.

@MamaMoose: You are sweet and I'll have to keep reminding myself about perfection and tantrums. At this point, she gets frustrated not being able to get the perfect bite of cereal in her mouth.

Stay tuned for a blog post about it though because we did have a really good morning this morning because of something we tried :)

@Mrs. Jacks: I know Lala's always been very verbal, but that kind of association is really beyond her years. :) Maybe she'll be a famous linguist when she grows up!

DD has a good grasp on language for her age (and she has a great sense of humor) but her strength is really her spatial/analytical skills. She takes after daddy on that one. Well, that and her "passionate"/fiery temperment, lol.

@Mrs. Jacks: I'm sure I don't need to tell you this given your profession. But I actually just read a really interesting article about how gifted children (let's be honest, I think Lala is a MENSA candidate!) often have a lot of tantrums because they tend to be perfectionists and because of that they get frustrated very easily. So I say blame the tantrums on Lala being a genius!

We're watching the convention and Lala is learning Spanish in school. She heard Eva Longoria say, "Si se puede! Yes we can!"

Lala thought about it and said, "Si se puede!" a few times and then she said, "You know what? I'm Cee Cee puede. Yes I can!"

She just made a play on her own name and in Spanish. How cool is that?!
