Thanks so much ladies! She was such a phenomenal nurser until this!

I paid attention last night and the crying is mostly our daytime feedings...last night (when swaddled) she did great and overnight she did great (minus her standard falling asleep on the secon side).

I'm thinking it may be tied to being over stimulated or distracted?! She has recently started focussing on things farther away...and following objects/noises....so maybe it's just a phase related to a growth spurt.

Just so frustrating/stressful... :crying:

@pachamama: yes I don't mean to suggest anyone jump to conclusions - just that it's worth getting checked out by an appropriately qualified person if things don't improve naturally. My 75% tied son fed fine in terms of that he gained loads of weight, but he was absolutely miserable whilst doing it. I wish I'd known at the time that a tt was a possibility before I waited 6 months for things to get better on their own!

@Mrs D: This happened to us around that time. I found it was actually my son not being that hungry OR it was when he was super tired. Other times it was honestly him just being a little fussy! It completely passed.
Don't jump to a conclusion about a tongue tie. If he's 10 weeks and things were ok. it's probably not necessary. SO many babies have tongue tie and can feed just fine.

Hey mama! It seems quite common but for my DS1 this was the first indicator he had a tongue tie. It was like once he became more awake and alert he started getting so frustrated that he couldn't get the milk out very efficiently. So maybe worth checking if you haven't already 😊

My DD is 10 weeks and she does the popping on and off, too, more often in the evening. She's always been a fast eater, nurses from just does one boob in 4-10 mins. When she fusses sometimes I do breast compressions, sometimes I just pull her off and reoffer the breast in another few minutes. She's gaining weight and has lots of wet and dirty diapers, so I'm trying not to be paranoid about my supply.

Ds2 is a little over 4 months and driving me crazy. He scratches, punches, pushes and pops off. I don't know what his deal is.

This happened to me a few weeks later than that. It didn't last that long! (A week or two)

I always worry whether she gets enough. She has been a fast nurser since birth and I rarely get more than 8 minutes.

@hilsy85: I'll google that and try it (guessing its not Google worthy but just to be sure)... I'm drinking a beer right now with the hopes it may spur some additional supply!!! (And calm my frustration)

My first LO started doing this a bit later, around 16 weeks. It was helpful if I did breast compressions while he was nursing so that milk was constantly flowing and he was at least getting as much as possible in the short time he was on the breast. I also think that 10 min a side could be plenty if your LO has gotten more efficient.

Ugh...please tell me this is just a phase that will pass?!

Dd2 is 10w and has started being very fussy at some feelings. She will latch take a sip and then pull off...then repeat over and over again.

She had been nursing for 20ish mins a side...now it's usually just 10 mins a side. She also has been very fussy sometimes (maybe 3 or 4 of our 6 daily nursing sessions). Like I barely got 10 mins from her at the last session.

I hate when it gets frustrating bc I get so discouraged and worried that she is eating enough.

Please tell me this is just a phase that will pass?!?!
