Thanks, ladies! I have read the kellymom stuff over and over but it's still so frustrating and I can't find a solution that works every time. We had a good day yesterday with no fussing (although we used bottles for part of the day so that might be why!) and I woke up feeling refreshed today and not hating breastfeeding. I guess fussing while eating is common? But I feel so guilty when she's screaming and hungry but won't calm down and eat!

I had this exact issue and started a thread on it...for me the only things that helped were doing breast compressions during nursing, and not forcing the issue. If he kept fussing I would just unlatch and try later. Eventually he stopped. It was super annoying and frustrating tho.

K will fuss at the boob and thrash around or "play" sometimes. Usually it's in the afternoon and and she's just more alert. I think she just wants to play or interact and not as focused on being hungry. But will just suck harder if I try to just stop feeding.

R does that sometimes as well. Starts screaming while eating but gets madder when I take her off. She will thrash around as well.

P's gone through lots of phases like that! Some were during growth spurts where the on, off, pushing, & grabbing (all while fussing) ultimately helped build my supply and others were during strikes when I'd take to nursing her to sleep and as soon as she woke while she was still groggy & more accepting. We've managed to get through them all!

Kellymom has some good info on strikes & fussing at the breast.

Any wisdom here would be helpful!

LO is EBF and is 2 months old. She has always eaten like a champ and gained weight well (she just topped 15 lbs!) but recently has started freaking out during feedings...but only sometimes and I can't find a pattern. She will eat for a little while, then pop off happily and scream when I put her back on...so she'll pop off, then get back on again, then scream, then try it again, then scream. Eventually she has been eating but it's an exhausting process and I can't BF away from home b/c it has become a long, loud, messy process. It doesn't make a difference which boob it is. It doesn't matter if I'm engorged or fairly empty. She has no problem latching, she just won't drink sometimes! And I don't force her on or anything, I just hold her up by the boob and she turns her head and latches. I don't think it's thrush b/c there aren't white patches in her mouth and my nipples donts hurt, except for when she yanks on them. She's not fussy after meal time so I don't think it's her tummy. And again, she only does this sometimes! What can I do or try?

I have googled everything I can think of. We have a doc appt Monday and I figured I'd ask them then. Maybe I will see an LC after that, but if we go and she feeds normally then I'm afraid I will be out the $$ and not make any progress. :( WAAAH!
