I'm so sorry! At 12 weeks pp, I started having pain in the upper-right abdomen area (imagine right under your right rib). It felt like hot cramping ... At 13 weeks, it was so bad, it kept me awake all night, and I went to the ER. It was gallstones ... very (very) common after pregnancy.

We decided to plan surgery for the next week ... there are "natural" solutions you could try, but since I was breastfeeding, I didn't want an emergency surgery (which would be required if a gallstone blocked the common bile duct).

Most attacks are caused by fatty foods (I had a bunch of avocado the day of my last big one).

I hope you get answers. An ultrasound of the area will tell them immediately if it's gallstones ... If you do opt for surgery, the laparoscopic isn't horrible. It was 2-4 days of pretty bad pain (sorry, just keeping it real). At 1 week, I could drive, but needed help with carrying the baby. At 2 weeks, I felt like my old self.

Keep us updated!!

Doctor said she will do a urinalysis and wants to wait on an ultrasound. If I continue to have pain, I'm supposed to call and tell them and then they'll do an ultrasound. :bummed: Hoping to not feel that again...

I had severe gallbladder issues during my pregnancy. In addition to all the good information present above, I wanted to mention that the amount of pain I experienced after eating was directly related to the amount of fat in the meal. Switching to a very very (very!) low fat diet helped the pain be manageable until I delivered (the symptoms resolved after.) You could try a few meals with little to no fat (read labels!) and see how you feel after. It can be an easy way to rule in/out gallbladder as the issue.

(I'm not a medical professional, just my experience).

It does sound like gallbladder, but could just be gastritis. Are you eating well and on time? I ate very badly after my first was born, and ended up with similar symptoms. The doctor sent me for an ultrasound, didn't find any gallstones, and told me to eat more often and stay away from spicy and acidic food for a while. That helped pretty quickly.

My coworkers wife just had her gallbladder and appendix out a week after having a csection. Apparently, it's more common than one would think.

My symptoms were very similar - all over my stomach but localized in the upper right area. It wrapped all around my back. Nothing took the pain away except waiting for it to pass. It often woke me up in the MOTN and I would spend a couple hours pacing before I could go back to sleep.

With dd2 the pain became worse and was happening every couple of days (with dd1 I would go weeks or even months between attacks). Looking back I should have known it was something more than indigestion!

After I went to the ER they sent me for an ultrasound where they saw the stones and then sent me for surgery pretty much right away. It was a laparoscopic surgery so it only took an hour or so and I only have four tiny scars. I spent one night in the hospital and then went home the next day.

I hope you get some answers! It does sound like it very well could be your gallbladder.

Yes -
It started after my first DD and I lived with it for 2 years thinking it was indigestion.

After my 2nd DD the pain became much more intense. I wound up in the ER one night with pain that was so excruciating I could hardly breathe. They quickly determined it was my gall bladder and I had it removed the next day.

That was six weeks ago and I feel SO much better - no stomach pains at all. The recovery was not fun (especially with an infant and a toddler) and I was a bit of a hormonal mess but luckily I had a lot of help from family. The first week was hard but all in all I healed quickly.

I would get it checked out because if it is your gall bladder it will just get worse. They told me the same thing, that it is common after pregnancy - something about gaining and then losing a lot of weight quickly.

Good luck! :goodluck:

I have been having some pain and discomfort the past few days. It comes and goes, particularly after dinner (like around 7-8pm, after eating at 6pm) and I feel abdominal and very severe back pain and swollen sore stomach. It hurts to the touch, in the upper middle, and I have painful gas etc. And then it just passes after an hour or so. Nothing seems to relieve the pain, especially my back. Heating pad, shower.... nothing. :( I called my OB this morning and the nurse said it sounded like gallbladder but she'd ask the doctor. She said it is common postpartum and during pregnancy. Anyone have a similar experience? Kind of scared and don't really need this after a difficult pregnancy. :crying:
