DH plays video games on his xbox and while I totally don't understand why he enjoys his games at all, it usually doesn't bother me. It gives me time to watch my shows/go online. Plus, its summer right now and I know once school starts and we;re both teaching again, he won't have much time for them anymore.

DH is a gamer too. I bought him a new 360 for Christmas and it's the only gaming console we have. He mostly plays Call of Duty and Battlefield 3(ish?). I don't mind too much as long as we don't have stuff that needs to be done. He usually plays in the evenings after LO is in bed and I use that time to catch up on HB and Pinterest! :)

I'm another who plays games along with my DH. We play mostly computer games, so sometimes I'll be playing on the desktop while he is playing another game in the same room on his laptop. It's just a great way to unwind, and feels more mentally active than TV watching. I expect our game time to go down for both of us once LO arrives, so we're savoring it now while we can. :)

He plays a lot, but it's how he relaxes. I can spend an hour at a time on pinterest, so why should I judge?

@Lozza: I liked the switch from WOW to Diablo, it seems way easier for him to put down. He can play as much as he wants, but I get cranky if he can't stop right away when I need him.

@babyjmama: The funny thing is, I can go in our bedroom and watch TV if I was really that upset about it, but I don't get up. :) If he is on his computer, it's because he is catching up on his sports message board. :)

He is pretty okay with my TV watching, except for GRey's anatomy. He can watch any gross horror movie, but Grey's Anatomy drives him crazy. I guess it's too realistic.

@jennimac: that's exactly why I'm SO grateful that DH plays his games on the computer! I'm a t.v. junkie so I never have to worry about him taking over the t.v. (he seriously has issues figuring out the remote for the dvr sometimes LOL). We only have one t.v. and never have to fight for it!

I've noticed that I'm MUCH less tolerant of DH's video games than he is of my t.v. watching, for some reason I feel like his video game playing is worse than t.v. watching, as if Criminal Minds or Real Housewives of trashy-city is "better" than Diablo III somehow...?!

Oh, man! This is something i don't understand that Hubby does. He loves games. Plays them in his down time. Right now, he is getting ready to start a football dynasty and do this NCAA football playoff thing. OMG. drives me nuts! Last night, I wanted to watch the olympics and everything and he was 'practicing'. Really? I try to be a good sport about it because he only does it when he is off work and it doesn't affect other things. Uusually I'm on HB or something, but it just bugs me.

Well holy toledo, here I wrote this post days ago and I feell off the wagon! ;-) I was working and spending all spare time with my sweet little man :)

@Adria: I almost envy you gals who used to be gamers, since I just don't understand the draw to it. Then again here I am on WB/HB quite a bit and I watch a lot of t.v. programs that he doesn't.

@Mrs Tricycle: My hubby doesn't "look" like a gamer either (I always pictured guys who were chubby, had bad b.o. and looked more like trolls than men LOL!!! ;-)

DH doesn't let the gaming interfere with taking care of our LO though, until he goes back to school on the 15th he's a SAHD and I come home to a clean house, hot cooked meal and clean laundry so I don't have to worry about a thing but holding baby J when I get home :)

I cause my husband to go back to gaming and I highly regret it. He played lots of video games when he was younger but not as an adult. After we moved in together we started date nights. One night I had the idea that we should go buy some video games and battle each other--to me a video game is Guitar Hero or Dance Dance Revolution. I had a PS2. I made the mistake of suggesting Grand Theft Auto. DH plays Street Fighter and Grand Theft Auto all the time. It's frustrating. We had to go buy a second TV for the living room because he would hog the TV.

DH and I used to play WoW together, especially when we moved to a new city right at the start of winter and so we didn't really have other friends and weren't motivated to leave the house :)
We binged on it together for a while, and then kind of lost interest and found other stuff to do, so it worked out.
We stopped playing before we had LO, so that wasn't a problem; DH did buy Diable III recently, but he'd play for ~30 minutes after LO went to bed when I was often doing some work or reading, so we'd hang out downstairs together and each do our own thing and it was fine- never interfered with taking care of LO. I find that it's a lot easier for him to play something like Diablo, which isn't really interactive, than something like WoW, where there's such an emphasis on group play and where you really need to spend a long time on at once in order to participate in lots of aspects of the game.

He plays some game (I don't even know what it is) in all his "down" time. I don't care as much as I used to because the house is so much cleaner now that he's working outside the home. I never realized what a mess-maker he was!

Now, I say whatever he wants to do with his free time... Before, his choice was very much affecting the entire family's quality of life.

Haha luckily we both are big gamers, but I do worry that when we have a baby I'll be a bit of a gamer widow! For now though, we are both content to play video games either together or separately. I even request that he go play his game sometimes so I can have time to myself to read :)

My husband loves his PS3. NCAA '13 recently came out so that's his latest obsession. Thankfully he doesn't play every day or when we have things to do around the house. He never ignores me for his game either. Whenever he plays I'll go get a book and snuggle up next to him so we can talk and spend time together without doing the same thing.

Mine is a gamer, but the traditional type. He likes european style board games. I like them too, so its not completely awful.
Often though, I'll stay at home or go out with the girls instead. It's nice to have some alone time.
He went to play games last night and I watched the olympics.

DH loves playing the 360...I bought it for him last Christmas and he was thrilled...honestly his face was as good as kids and Santa! He plays skyrim, call of duty & gears of war - he can play online with his brother across the country which is cool, but so tired of watching these games!

Haha. I used the term gamer widow in the other post. I exaggerated a little because he's actually not as bad now that we have kids. But say I want to watch SYTYCD he goes downstairs to play. Only when a new game comes out does he go to bed extremely late. Oh and sometimes he uses the "I'm goon downstairs to get toilette paper or to get dressed" but 30 mins later he's still not back up. He tries to play a quick game before coming back to family reality. Ha

My husband plays tons of videos games. I wouldn't say he looks like a typical gamer or acts like a typical gamer, but that's how he relaxes. I guess I don't usually mind, as I go to bed way earlier than him. If I want to do something together, he'll stop playing. He usually rotates between Everquest, Diablo and Call of Duty.

PS - Buying him a pair of Turtle Beach wireless headphones was the BEST $200 I ever spent -- I no longer have to listen to the guns go off in Call of Duty

Well, I'm not quite like you, as I used to be an avid gamer myself. My husband and I used to play World of Warcraft together until I quick a couple years ago. Now Hubs plays games on his own. It actually works out well for us though because I watch a ton of TV, so he's often playing video games while I'm watching TV or reading a book. I really like my alone time, so I don't mind him playing games a lot. And if I ask him to hang out with me, he always will, so it hasn't been a problem for us so far. Plus, I'm a LOT more social than my husband, so I like to go out and hang with my girlfriends a bunch, and I don't feel guilty leaving Hubs at home because I know he'll just entertain himself with video games.

On another post I saw that there are a few ladies on here who have hubbies that play video games. A lot. Well hello, let me introduce myself as someone who HATES computer games and somehow married a man who is obsessed with them. UGH. Everyone who knows us is always surprised when I tell them he's a gamer, he doesn't "look" like a gamer.

My DH plays computer games, World of Warcraft, Diablo III, Star Wars, Final Fantasy 342834...whatever he thinks is the most exciting at the moment. We have lots of arguments over what is "productive" since in my free time I'm usually doing something outside of the house (dinner//lunch with my girlfriends) but he says this is just his free time.

Do your hubs play video games? What games? What do you do to deal with it?
