As a person who is really not a fan of organized activities at parties, I like your idea to do things that people can pass around or walk by on their own time. Organized games make me feel like I'm at a kid's party. You could set out sugar cookies and have frosting and sprinkles for people to decorate and eat cookies. Maybe a cookie contest, where everyone brings a different type of cookie and then people put a sticker on their favorite? Winner gets a prize?

What about placing sticky notes on people's back with a character/person and they have to guess who they are by asking other guests questions to identify their identity?

You could do a jar full of christmas candies (m&m's, etc.) and have them guess how many are in the jar... whoever gets closest wins it.

I've done this at a baby shower, but all guests start with 2 clothespins on their shirt... anytime a person says Christmas they have to give up their clothespin to whomever catches it... Most clothespins at the end of the night wins.

Hide jingle bells throughout the house and whoever finds the most wins something. Some competitive people will be all about this but maybe not everyone's cup of tea.

I like word games...

Santa's Reindeer word scramble- you can have multiple cards and four or five reindeer per card.

Finish that holiday jingle.

You can even create your own cross word puzzles. I'd stick to 7-10 words/ clues.

I host an Ornament Exchange every year and thought it would be to have some games this year too - however I want people to be able to do them on their own as they mingle. So far the only thing I have is 5 wrapped boxes and you have to guess how many jingle bells are in the box by shaking it.

Any other ideas for a game people can do on their own that is holiday related?
