@SAHM0811: Thanks for both of these! Good ideas

And thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think we're going to do something with their baby pics, and a game where you have to guess if a childhood memory belongs to the mom or dad. Like "this 10 month old once fell down the stairs in the walker," kind of memory.

I wish we could so celebrity babies because I love me some Suri Cruise. :)

we displayed and numbered old baby/kid pics (ages 0 - high school) of the parents-to-be and had the guests try to guess their age in the pics

also did the diaper raffle... huge hit... just ask guests to bring a pack of diapers in different sizes for a chance to win a gift card... My sister is still using those diapers with her 9.5 month old!

I have only hosted/been to one baby shower and it was coed with our rowdy group of college friends. We had boys chug beer from baby bottles, played pictionary w baby/labor terms (boys v girls), wrote messages on diapers. It was actually really fun

I played a game once where everyone got a slip of paper and a pen. You have to put the paper on the top of your head and draw a picture of a baby without being able to see what you are drawing. The drawings turn out very funny and the mom to be picks the winner. I also recently played a name the baby food game where you take the labels off the jar and everyone gets a spoon and tastes and has to guess what it is. It was pretty gross..

We had one game - guess the jelly beans in the baby bottle. The activity was decorating burp cloths. Best. Idea. Ever. I was so happy they did burp cloths instead of onesies. We used like 20 burp cloths a day when M was younger.

My Mom brought tons of different fabric choices, images that you cut the fabric around and we set up the iron and ironed on the images. I love them all so much, I'm never going to be able to get rid of them. :)

Pin baby clothes on a clothesline with the non-dominating hand only, the other hand remained in the back. Winner is determined by the most baby clothes on the line within a minute.

Find as many safety pin in a big bowl of rice. The most safety pin found in a minute won. One had to stop if any rice falls out with a safety pin or out of the bowl.

We played many of the above. Game not mentioned is shower gift bingo. I made bingo sheets for items on the registry. As we opened gifts, people mark them off. Winner gets the prize. We also had big baby bottles w gummy bears. Whoever guessed closest won the bottles of gummy bears.

You can also do a raffle, where for every 20 diapers (or however many...) someone brings they get a raffle ticket... and at the end of the shower, do the raffle and someone wins a prize - maybe a gift card or something.

Melt different types of chocolate into diapers so it looks like poop, number the diapers, and have guests guess which chocolate is in each diaper buy eyeballing it. It's funner if you use more unique chocolate bars so it's harder to figure out. We also got creative and used random stuff around the house like almond butter... anything brownish and looks like poop!

My favorites we've done (my friends and I aren't really embarrassing games people)
1) Celebrity baby name match to parent (played at mine since i'm a celebrity gossip junkie)
2) Songs that have teh word Baby in the title - name artist and title
3) Freeze mini baby bottles in ice cubes and the first to have it pop out is the winner
4) Biggest bubble

I have played a game where everyone gets a paper with the name of animals and the goal is to wite the name of the baby animal (ie cat=kitten). That was fun and low key. One with questions about nursery rhymes and songs was fun too, like why did jack and jill go up the hill? To fetch a pail of water,

There was also a memory game where the hostess brought around a tray ofbaby items nd then took it in the other room, and everyone had to write down the things they could remember. The best part was that the mama to be got to keep the items!

Ok I love shower games, well not the gross ones (drink bottles, guess food, diaper surprise).

Depending on your theme you can taylor the games to it. I always love baby animals/ safari theme and games. Guess the gestational period or match the animal baby kid name.

If she is team green you could have the mom demonstrate a few Old Wives Tales for everyone. And you could make copies of the Chinese Gender chart for all the other ladies to complete and weigh in on the accuracy.

You could blindfold the mama to be and have her accurately guess baby items out of a bag...bottles, rattles, pacifiers, wipes etc.

If you have a glam theme you could do a few celebrity games. Match the mama with the baby name or match the child photo to the celebrity (their kid or the celeb as kid).

I have played the baby item word scramble and for a mama who likes candy there is a game with hints and you guys the candy bar.

I love the mad lib idea.

We had a Price is Right Game. We had to answer questions how my DH did, things like how many diapers a Day, etc. My other showe was name the baby and for each animal and name a baby item for each letter of the alphabet.

At my shower we asked everyone to bring a picture of themselves as a baby. You assign each picture a number (we just taped them to a poster board that had numbers written on it). Everyone gets a sheet of paper and has to guess who each baby is. Its a good ice breaker if you have a shower where people don't all know each other.

We also had a timer going while we were opening gifts- the person who gave you the gift you were opening when the timer went off got a prize.

I just went to shower and we played The Price Is Right. The hostesses bought 10 lower end baby items (pacis, diapers, diaper cream, wipes, etc) and we had to guess the price. Whoever was the four closest to the actual total of all the items won a prize. It was super low key, fun, and no one had to move around except the hostesses. It was by far the best baby shower game I've ever played.

We didn't do this at my shower but I think it is brilliant! When everyone walks in the door, they write their name and address on an envelope. You can then use it to randomly pull names for prizes or whatever else you want, but the best part is the person who is having the shower thrown for her doesn't have to write out the addresses for the thank you cards! Brilliant, right?!?!?!

We decorated onesies at one of my showers. That was really fun! At the other, we had an activity where everyone wrote down a piece of advice for me once the baby arrived. I'm sure you could do something artistic with that, like turn it into a collage and frame it or something.

I am really not into games for my own showers, but I am helping throw one for my husband's cousin and she is definitely a game person. So we're trying to come up with a few, low key things to do. We're thinking a mad libs type activity already and think activities that can be played at your seat are best for this event. Thanks for suggestions!
