I did a raised garden bed last year. LO was a few months old so obviously she didn't help! It really was pretty easy once we had the plants in the ground (we got starters from a local farm's plant sale) and we had a fairly decent crop despite neglecting it pretty well! I am very excited to have her "help" this summer and I think the second year will go a lot better because I have a lot more of an idea of what to plant!

So I would do a small raised bed with the idea that you can get your feet wet and then expand upon it next year!

Do they want flowers or do you want actual vegetables for them to pick and eat?

I would perhaps start with blooms/vegetables from a nursery. Let them go pick it out with you and start from there?

The girls want to have a garden this year, which I think will be fun for them...but I've never had a 'real' garden before, just a couple of things in pots and they didn't all live. I don't want it to be overwhelming, but not really sure where to start. Should I attempt a small garden in the ground (we have a spot) or just do a couple of things in pots and see how it goes?
