Cauliflower soup really did a number in DS1, but DS2 never responded to anything I ate or drank, so I think it depends on the kiddo, too.

@Foodnerd81: Oh man! Don't you hate when they're freaking out and you really cannot fix it? The worst feeling :-(

@pachamama: This is exactly what our pedi told me when I asked him about how gassy DD is.

For us, it doesn't matter what I do or don't eat. She's just gassy ALL the time. Constant farts, and they SMELL. His pedi told me eventually her gut would mature. (I do find it ironic that this first girl farts more than all of the male McK's...probably combined :silly: )

@pachamama: I generally agree with you, that the effect of what we eat on babies is over exaggerated, but last night the poor kid was in such a state! I don't know that it was really related but I would love to avoid it again if I can! But I also think a lot of it was all the mucous too- she had a huge projectile spit up this morning which she only does when she is really snotty. Either way I'll be limited the gassy vegetables for a little bit.

The black beans definitely did make her spot up more though- like I made them a few times and every time I had multiple outfit changes. Didn't seem to bother her but is rather avoid them for a few months than do all that extra laundry.

I am EBF and I've found it doesn't matter what I eat, babies' GI tracts are just sensitive and growing so they get gassy. I read that very very rarely are babies actually sensitive to the food you eat. I had a ton of broccoli and cauliflower last night and my 11 week old wasn't affected.

Have you noticed what you eat affecting baby much? How quickly? Does it matter if you eat gassy foods (broccoli, Brussels sprouts) a couple of days in a row? I guess I did have kind of a lot of both for a few days, and G (3.5 months) just had a crazy crying for, very unlike her. And had some massive farts in between. She also has a bad runny nose so I'm sure there is a lot of mucous in her little tummy.

So, I'll be staying away from those foods for a while. She doesn't care for beans either...
