@ValentineMommy: this is an interesting one. You think it would be okay at the top of a staircase like that?

I wonder if I can find it locally here and how much it is...need to look.

To clarify, with the one I used, there is a round little pad that screws or unscrews to touch a flat surface (you could use the banister adapters depending on where the riser hits) and then the top would use the banister adapters.

We have the same stair setup so we did the gate across the hallway instead. So it's like kitchen/living room and then a hallway down to the stairs, and we put the gate across the hall so he's trapped in the kitchen/living room area, like this (you can see the stairs in the background):

@lilyofthewest: my sister couldn't find the other side by I have an extra piece of wood.

I think I will attempt what you're saying with the extra spacer blocks. Probably the best option. I don't want to mount it above because there will be a huge gap at the bottom he will probably go through lol

Were you planning to zip on another stairway installation thing like you have on the right? If so, you can screw some bocks of wood into as spacers before zipping it on. Or, depending on where the hardware needs to screw in, just mount it above the stair.

I was given a wooden gate by my sister that I was going to attach to the top of these stairs. You can see form the picture there is a riser in the way of me installing anything flush.

I have no clue what I can install to keep lo from flying downstairs. Help!!
