@T.H.O.U.: they wouldn't let me use the wireless ones, not exactly sure why. Idk if it was because they couldn't get a good dead on him or what. I was really disappointed that. Couldn't use the birthing tub. In retrospect I should have pushed back on some of the stuff or asked to talks to my midwife. The nurse was insistent on a lot of things and I just went with it even though I wasn't happy.

@ShootingStar: I believe you may be right that you have to be monitored with pitocin. Our hospital had wireless monitors though so you were still pretty mobile (and I think they work in the tub). Even hooked to the wires I was able to sit next to the machine on a birthing ball.

I had a c section with my 1st because of his size. He was over 10 pounds at birth. I wasn't diagnosed GD but may have developed it later after I took the test.

I was diagnosed GD with my 2nd and was planning a repeat c section at 39 weeks. He came at 37+5 (repeat c due to low fluid) and weighed 7 lbs 2 oz. I followed the GD diet but wasn't super strict with it.

I had GD and was induced at 39 weeks, and ended up with a c-section. I had a TON of amniotic fluid, which apparently can be a side effect of GD. The fluid kept DS from descending as much as he needed to in order to dilate me. I kept going into labor and stalling.

I know a lot of people have easy inductions and if they're real gung ho about going natural they can make it. But an induction is not like what they tell you to expect in birth class. IDK if this is just my hospital, but if you're on pitocin, the baby has to be monitored continuously. They had a lot of problems getting a continuous read on DS and I had to lay absolutely still in bed in order to not have to go right to an internal monitor. So no laboring in the tub, no walking around, no bouncing on the ball. I had no ways to cope with the pain other than just lie there. I could have gone longer without the epi if natural birth was important to me, but I felt that without any coping mechanisms there was just no point in delaying it once the nurse suggested it.

I honestly would rather go straight to a c-section than labor in bed with pitocin contractions again.

My water broke at 36 weeks so no induction needed. She was 7 lb 11 oz, so if she was full term she would have been big.

I was induced at 39+4 with GD and creeping up high blood pressure. Doctor wouldn't let me go past 40wks with GD. She was 6lb 14oz.

***born vaginaly with epi. Received epi around 5cm and at that point contractions were unbearable. At that point I had only received cyotec which induced very strong contractions. Pitocin was administered shortly after I received the epi.

@knittylady: with pitocin, they were manageable until I was around 5 cm's but the drip was turned up to the max too. Then the contractions were on top of each other and really hard to breathe through.

Natural contractions were a lot more bearable, still painful but they reached a peak and then I was able to have a break in between. Pitocin didn't allow for that break to happen.

Oh, I guess I should add, I delivered both babies vaginally.

I had GD and delivered vaginally without interventions at 40+3. LO was 7 lbs 10.5 oz at birth. My practice would have allowed me to go until 42 weeks before induction.

No intervention with my first and he was 8 lbs 7 oz. I was induced with my second because of high blood pressure, almost made it without epi but caved and got one at 8-9 cm's, she was 8 lbs 13 oz.

My doctor will let me go to 41 weeks without inducing me for GD.

I was induced at 41 weeks. LO arrived at 41+1 vaginally. It would've been a totally smooth vaginal delivery but there was meconium in the amniotic fluid and she wouldn't turn. So I delivered a sunny side up baby with an entire NICU team in the room.

ETA - R was 8 lbs 4 oz at 41+1.

Mine is a weird story. #1 and #2 were both missed cases of GD. #1 was 8 weeks early and 6.5 lbs. #2 I went into labor at 39 weeks but she died during labor. She was 10 lbs.

#3 was diagnosed and monitor and I had a scheduled c section at 39 weeks. He was 7 lbs 4 oz.

If you had GD did you end up getting induced? C section? Large baby? I any hat an epidural due to hardware in my back from my spinal fusion to correct scoliosis in 2000 so I worry an induction will equal c section for me...

(Let me know if I should add any other options in the poll!)
