@ShootingStar: Actually, stress tests you will need to pay a copay at least with my HP plan, which is crazy to me. They won't make you pay for the biophysical/ultrasound, but the stress tests yes!

I'm sorry you're going through this. Our insurance has been great about covering maternity care and tests, but every visit to the MFM is considered a specialist visit and they were clear about that upfront. Like you, we have a $40 copay each time no matter how often I go.

I have Harvard Pilgrim and I had GD. I had to pay a co-pay for my lancet and strips ($15). I didn't have to see MFM, but I did see an endocrinologist, and again I had co-pays for the visits. $20 I think? I haven't gotten billed for the non-stress tests, I assume they're covered 100% just like all my other pre-natal care was.

Hi All,

I'm very puzzled by something I was told by my insurance company and extra tests and appts. I'll have to do because of my GD. I'll be charged a specialist copay for every stress test and visit I have to the fetal maternal medicine doc, which means i'll be paying close to $600 out of pocket in copays.

During my first pregnancy in NYC, everything was covered. My testing supplies (strips and lancets) as well as all the additional testing and screenings I need to get done.

Here in MA with Harvard Pilgrim, I have a copay for my testing supplies and on top of that now specialist copays for these tests I need to get done. Does this sound right? Please sound off.
