Eggs, meat, cheese, nuts!!! More protien really helps keep you full longer  As you test more and more you'll figure out what things you can basically eat all you want of and won't affect your numbers. But chances are it'll probably be one of the above items :silly:

I'm just popping in to say I'm so glad I'm not the only one who turned into a hungry monster at 36 weeks! I don't remember this happening with my first!!

More protein snacks for sure!!! I have more than the "recommended" number of snacks, but make sensible choices so my levels are maintained.

I remember hitting that point and when I spoke with my diabetes nurse she told me it's ok to eat but just take care of my choices (so eat smart snacks and don't binge on the sugary / carby stuff). I don't mean to sound flippant but you're not going to kill your baby by eating extra food when you're hungry 😜

Snack on food that wont affect blood sugar, like meat and cheese. I stocked my fridge with mini cheese like Babybels and cooked up huge batches of chicken legs, slices of pork belly etc to pull out whenever I needed them. Tuna mayo is another favourite for me - a bowl of tuna mayo will get rid of any hunger! Ooh, you could also boil up some eggs and keep in the fridge for a snack.

I also loved Atkins chocolate bars but they can affect your blood sugar so use with caution.

You're nearly there! You can do it!

So I have been dealing with GD for a couple months now. I am used to what I can and cannot eat, my sugar levels have been nearly impossible to control but they have confirmed it isn't my diet since I am pretty strict about it (because of the frustratingly high levels) but now it looks like I might have the right med balance. Problem? I have hit the point in my pregnancy, 36 weeks, when I am ravenous. I eat my meals and snacks and am full and then an hour later, or 3 am, I starving again!!! I am terrified to eat even an almond for fear it will throw off my already precariously balanced numbers. Ugh... How am I doing to make it through one more month of this??? This kid needs to go ahead and make an entrance now.
