Atkins bars! I stocked up on Atkins treats and I was so glad I did. I only drank water but the odd diet lemonade wont hurt I'm sure.

I ended up only laboring for a few hours before I had an emergency c-section (my placenta abrupted during an external cephalic version to turn my breech baby), so I don't have the most on-point experience for you. That said, I had fruit (a few plums and apricots--it was stone fruit season!) and string cheese. I think the fruit is good for the energy it provides and it's so easy on the stomach--even going into surgery an hour after eating it, no one was worried when I told them my "lunch" had been fruit.

Also, fruit didn't spike my blood sugar too badly. Bread and any processed carbs (pasta, etc.) are always what did that for me. My baby had no problems whatsoever related to GD or blood sugar. Hugs! GD is a pain!

Does anybody have any suggestions for GD-friendly snacks to have on hand during labour? I want to be prepared in case I have another long labour but don't want to be dumping a pile of sugar into my body right on the home stretch.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
