@DesertDreams88: I took mine yesterday at 25 weeks. I think the range is 25-28 weeks. My midwife told me NO carbs at all before the test. I had eggs & some mixed nuts before mine. What you've listed seems high in sugar/carbs for what my midwife told me (she specifically said no cereal for breakfast!)

I need to revise my response, I was getting my carbs and sugars confused, 15g of CARBS would be considered on the low side for breakfast but not 15g of sugar.

@MaisyMay: that's pretty similar to the recs for GD.

My test was first thing in the morning and I had a handful of almonds and lots of water! I passed. Not sure what I would have done if I had to wait until the afternoon. Good luck.

breakfast is pretty sugar heavy, I would skip the cheerios and eat eggs.

Mind me asking why no fruit/veggies? how do you get those necessary vitamins?

What kind of diet are you in with no fruit, veg, or meat?! Carbs and dairy? Yum!

For my 1 hour test I was told to eat normally just watch the sugar intake. The 3 hour test you have to fast. (Awful. So awful. I hope you pass the 1 hour!) That being said.... I would skip the cheerios!

@tinyperson: Right - just regular oatmeal from scratch. I added coconut oil and nuts, but skipped the dried fruit that day, just to be on the safe side.

Do you eat oatmeal? That's what I had about an hour before my one-hour glucose test. It's supposed to be a good food for not spiking your blood sugar.

As a diabetic, the cereal and milk is carb heavy enough to elevate your glucose. Try adding in a protien in the morning to balance it out. For the lunch, multi grain is good, whole grain would be better. Pb is a good choice if no extra sugar is added. As a pregnant diabetic, I am supposed to have 15-30 grams of carbs and 8-16 grams of protien foe breakfast. Lunch can be 30-45g carbs, 16-24 protien. 1 serving of carbs is 15g. A serving of protien is 8g.

Your breakfast is going to give you a lot of carbs from both the cereal and the milk, but no/little protien for after the quick high is over with.

Considering the recommended amount of sugar a day is 25g/ about 6 teaspoons, I would say that this is quite high sugar. You have 20g of your 25g by 10:30am!!!

Dairy would be the first thing to cut. I would have eggs for breakfast and maybe for lunch something whole meal rather than just multigrain. It's really hard to think of healthy foods, when you've eliminated 90% off the best foods to eat :-/

I would skip the peanut butter.

I had a very early GD test so I skipped breakfast and still failed my first one. I passed the three hour one-all normal ranges. The only thing I can think of that caused me to fail the first is the watermelon I had like the night before (15 hours before test)

So I found out today that I have to have my gestational diabetes test before I leave for my trip on Saturday, and the only time I can do it then is tomorrow sometime 12:30ish-1ish. I'll be 25 weeks and 1 day, which I think is a little early for this?!

They told me to not fast, eat low sugar, and high protein. I don't eat fruits, veggies, or meat (and my ob knows this) and this is what I'm thinking of eating. Does this qualify as "low sugar" ?

Breakfast at 6:30: A big bowl of Cheerios & 2% milk (15g of sugar (mostly from the milk), 8g of protein)
"Lunch" at 10:30: A multigrain waffle with natural peanut butter (5g of sugar, 4g of protein).
Test around 12:30-1:30ish.

I'm not really looking for suggestions... I'm just seeing if the above meal would be considered "low sugar" by normal people ;)
