@msmini: same for us. most of that is because i was FT WOH until LO1 was 2, and i have been SAH since LO2 was born. so some things just didn't get that much use with LO1 because she was at daycare so much during the week....now LO2 is home and needs to be entertained/contained a lot more :)

Regrets
- Mamaroo. But, I had no way of knowing whether DD would like or hate it. If I can't sell it, will see if any future LO likes it. This girl loves her fisher price snugabunny swing!
- Starting to wonder about the stroller. I love the uppababy Cruz, but restaurants can't ever accommodate it, and I hate leaving it unattended at the front door :bummed: . It's also heavy heaving in and out of my jeep, even though I got the lighter uppababy. I see a lot of people with umbrella strollers, and I see why. But, I don't want my stroller to go to waste. On the converse, I'm glad I didn't get the bigger uppababy vista!

Skip hop diaper bag: prefer hands free backpack!

Exersaucer : took up so much space and DD never took to it.

Swing: DD never really liked it.

- Bulky highchair, wish we would have just got one that stuck on a kitchen chair.

- JJ Cole diaper bag: sold it after DD1, it was just way too big and bulky. Replaced it with a Skip Hop Duo for #2.

- Graco travel system. I got one because "everyone" has one around here but the stroller is so bad and bulky. I wish I would have researched it better instead of just going with the crowd.

Fancy high chair - our Bloom Fresco Loft (the space capsule looking one on a hydraulic lift) looked cool to start, but now sags a little due to DD1 hanging off the tray, and in spite of smith lines around the seat, still has tiny books where the straps hook in that collect crud. We have two IKEA chairs for our outdoor dining set and I wish we'd gone that route indoors, too.

The big one for me was cloth nappies, I invested a lot of money and used them for 2 months, when I finally admitted to myself that I could not deal with the extra work. I don't think having a very difficult baby helped, but I had a lot of guilt over moving to disposables. Finally sold them a year later for nearly as much as I paid!

The highchair we bought is rubbish, it has no solid bar between the legs so you always have to strap DS in fully every time (which I wouldn't do otherwise - he never tries to climb out and I am always with him). It was only about £50 off amazon but I still can't bring myself to replace it now.

I love our City Mini but I wish I had got the carrycot attachment when DS was tiny, he always seemed so small in the normal seat (fully reclined obvs), and always woke up when I took him out.

Various horrible tacky noisy mobiles / musical devices that promised to put him to sleep and did nothing of the sort.

Blankets... every list said we needed these and I bought 4 - aside from using a mini one when napping in the pushchair we have never once used a blanket in 18 months - he sleeps in a sleepsack so no need at night.

Pacapod changing bag - I loved the idea of the separate pods, but the thing just wasn't big enough for all the crap I like to drag around! I sold it and got a new one about 4 months in.

I regret getting a single pump instead of a double. But I really only used it for about 2 months with LO1 and maybe 10 times with LO2, so I guess it wasn't that big of a deal. For baby gear, I don't regret anything!

I regret getting our single BOB - I never ran with DD in it when we only had one kid. I'd just have DH stay with her while I went for a quick run - much easier. And it wasn't our all-around stroller bc it was so heavy/bulky (we used our b-agile as our daily stroller).

Second regret is getting a travel crib. We had the baby bjorn travel crib light, but never found a need for it because whenever we traveled we just used hotel cribs. We never stayed overnight at grandparents or anything like that, so never had a need for it.

At the moment I'm making my way through my stored baby gear and thinking about what I could improve on. I never felt happy with her bassinette, and I'm contemplating selling it on eBay and buying a Boori Matilda Cradle. Its longer and also has timber bars instead of mesh. not sure if I'll regret it though.

I am so thankful that we had lots of hand me downs and things to borrow. The jumperoo was a total flop and the rnp didn't work for us either. I wish I could have had the the halo bassinest, it would have been great for us but it wasn't out yet and it's really expensive, plus we had a rnp and a bassinet so it would have seemed silly.

DH bought a walker without really checking with me. DD didn't care for it and I think it's a waste so will be selling that on FB!

I actually adore our Pack n Play lol but it was a gift! It was so easy to travel with for us.

We didn't buy a lot of gear because I figured it would be a waste and I'm glad I didn't. We just got the basics and added on (swing and clip-on high chair have been add-ons that I love)

@Anagram: I think he could fit in it for 6 months, maybe a little less. He only ended up sleeping in our room for about 8 weeks but we used it for naps and as a place to set DS down for about 4-5 months.

Between my 2 LO's I had totally different preferences it seems. Things I thought were useless for DS ended up coming in handy for DD, and things that I thought were must have for DS have barely been used for DD.

Basically after 2 LOs, any regrets I had were wiped away!

I don't love my Chicco Cortina, but I think we are just not stroller people. I wish we had gotten a snap n go and an umbrella stroller instead.

I bought a Safety 1st Complete Air carseat, because it was recommended as fitting one of our vehicles, and supports relatively extended rear facing. It does not actually fit well, nobody can sit in the passenger seat comfortably. I also do not like having to use a rolled up towel for the installation.

We also bought a cheap glider, which was perfectly comfortable, but broke.

I love my pack n play. The toy bar was the first thing DS grabbed for. He used it for practicing sitting and standing. Now he takes naps in it. It is fine for car travel. For plane travel, we only visit family, and it is much cheaper to buy them an extra pack n play than one of the expensive travel cribs. I would use a hotel crib if traveling there by air.

@winniebee: Exact same here! We had 2 Britax Boulevard seats... they were too small for our baby when he hit 40 lbs by the time he was two. :( We replaced them with Diono Radians and LOVE them. We sold the Britaxes but at less than half what we paid.

Wish we had gotten the velcro swaddles with my first - we just used swaddle blankets and my DS was busting out at less than one month old. They were awesome when we got them for our second, so much simpler.

I did my best to not buy things I didn't think I needed. I took a very minimalistic approach and told myself I could always buy stuff later if I felt I needed it.

My only regrets:

1) Breast pads. Every "must have" list said I needed breast pads if I was going to breastfeed. I bought a big box, packed my hospital bag with some... and never used a single one. I mean I leaked a bit at the beginning but not enough that my bra didn't do a good enough job keeping it unnoticable. I've been EBF for 10 months now and still haven't used a single one.

2) Manual breast pump. This was another "must have" on the lists for breastfeeders. I've used it maybe a handful of times... and it's kind of a PITA to use. I kind of wish I had "splurged" and gotten a electric breast pump. Even though I don't pump often (only if I am going out somewhere without DD which is not common) I find myself avoiding pumping as much as possible because I dislike it so much.

Things I didn't buy but do not recommend:

1) Complicated high chairs. Seriously I love the $15 high chair from IKEA. Easy to use and clean. I don't see the point of all those extra features. My ILs have this monstrosity of a high chair at their home we use for DD when we're there and I think it's annoying.

Bumbo (We have the prince lionheart version), used it only a handful of times.

Jolly Jumper (MIL bought second hand, I'm glad we didn't purchase ourselves)

Graco Infant Carseat and Stroller.... it was the literider so it wasn't cumbersome, but I wish we'd registered for the keyfit and caddy with DS1. (We ended up buying ourselves for DS2).

K'tan, Moby, etc. I sold all our soft carriers aside from the podaegi from my aunt in korea. DS wasn't really into baby wearing. And when he was, DH used the beco more!

Miracle blanket, etc. - DS only wore sleep sacks for less than year and hated anything but swaddles from A&A blankets (which he was only swaddled for a few weeks too).

@CakeLady: ditto the Nuna Sena Mini - the smaller footprint was great in theory, but he outgrew it WAY too fast

mamaroo - he just didn't like swings of any kind. big waste of $

maclaren strollers - i got 2 different versions for cheap on facebook, but didn't like either one. I think I can recoup my cost, but it is just annoying. The Mountain Buggy Nano arrived last night and I'm SO excited!!

The Bumbo! Used it twice and all of a sudden she could sit up unassisted. Oh well!

I also wish I bought a stroller that could convert to a double from the very beginning. We got the Cruz but literally only used it for a year. We just bought the City Select Double and I was able to sell the Cruz but still......

We are only five months in but I regret buying our stroller. We got an uppababy Cruz and we've used it maybe 5 times? I prefer to wear him and while I know we need a stroller I would much rather have a nice umbrella like the uppababy g luxe and more carriers/wraps. Plus I'm having a heck of a time trying to sell the stroller now :bummed:

Bumbo - my kids have chunky legs so they don't fit well.

Graco Travel System- that stroller was HUGE!

Momaroo - LO1 didn't really like it enough for what we paid. The good news was we sold it at 6 months and got most of our money back out of it.

Baby carrier - sold my Britax carrier for about 50% off (used 1 time!) and probably will sell my non-used Ergo too. I just don't like to carry my baby.

Pack n Play - its okay for home, but I hate the bulk of toting it around when we travel. At home it's used as a safe place to put LO while we get ready in the AM.

RnP - Thought this was a sure win but she did not like it! Wish I got a swing instead. If our next one isn't a fan either I'm totally selling that and getting a swing instead!

Mobile - DD doesn't even sleep in her crib much and the mobile is more to give her something to look at when she was younger and I needed to do something.
