Just came across this - we will be at the beach this summer for Fourth of July, but I'm not sure I can wait that long to share!

@caterw: this is part of the reason I want to film it - DD1 desperately wants another sister. If it's a boy, her reaction is bound to be dramatic and priceless 😝

@delight: we have books that are gender soecific as to the older sibling, but I'll have to pay more attention to the sec of the babies in them!

Cute ideas!! I need to figure out something fun for DD to announce if she is getting a sister or (especially) a brother. She is absolutely certain that the baby is a girl, to the point where DH and I refer to the new baby as she. Hopefully a fun cupcake or little gift will help her get excited about a baby boy!

I love the cupcake ideas but I have another idea. Are your girls into books? I'm planning on getting DD a book about bringing home a baby brother or sister. There are lots of them out there. Then we will take some pictures of her "reading" it to announce gender to our family.

Someone I know on FB had two girls about the same ages as your DDs and they made a video of them each opening a present that had blue teddy bears inside. It was really cute to see their reactions.

@birdofafeather: @MrsSRS: my girls will never turn down cupcakes, and cupcakes filled with M&Ms would absolutely blow their minds. I should go buy some leftover Easter M&ms to have the pastels colors on hand.

Make some cupcakes, cut out the center, fill with pink or blue m&ms, put a bit of the cake on as a lid and hide with frosting! Although I really like the doll idea.

I know a family that did a silly string fight! But that may not be appropriate for your youngest, just depends on her personality!

@Mrs. Tiger: That'd actually be very appropriate, since she's been asking me for a baby (human, not doll) recently! I so don't want any more baby dolls in to add to our collection of approximately one zillion, but I could make an exception for this really cute idea - and it might help my two year old, who is a bit more literal and probably doesn't get that blue *something* = boy, but could recognize a boy baby doll as such.

Thanks! Open to other suggestions, too - I expect this to be our last baby so we'll probably make a huge big deal of everything :)

Has anyone done a special "gender reveal" specifically geared towards the siblings-to-be? The older of my two daughters is nearly four, and I think she'd really "get" it (we'd love to film her reaction to finding out whether she's getting a brother or a sister)....the younger doesn't really understand boys/girls, but will surely get caught up in the excitement as well.

I've seen people wrap boy/girl outfits, tint the icing inside a cake (we tried to do this for DD2, but the bakery messed up!), open a box of pink/blue balloons.....but I'd love to do something special just for the girls. I figure you all are so creative there are bound to be some great ideas floating around!
