In this case, I'd ask my mom to come to my house and watch my kids there, as opposed to bringing them to her house.

I keep LO away from people with the flu/RSV/other serious illnesses. Other than that, we go about our life per usual. I'm in the camp that germs and colds are good to help build up their immune systems. I'd never purposely expose my child to illness but I don't go out of my way to avoid the common old either.

I'm not too concerned about germs in stores, outside, etc. I only really try to avoid sick kids if they have something more than a cold. Colds don't bother me too much, especially since she seems to pick them up randomly more than from other kids. If the weather/situation permits I might suggest we go to a park or more open space, thus they're less likely to swap germs.

How do you handle germs/sickness with your LO? I always wipe down carts, public tables, I use sanitizer myself a lot when out and touching things like money, door handles, gas pumps etc.

As far as her being exposed to people I know are/just were sick I am pretty strict about avoiding them. My family thinks I'm nuts and that sickness can be caught anywhere. I totally get that, but it's the point of knowingly exposing her to people who are sick that I have a hard time with. A simple runny nose, no, but flu/colds, yes. My family does all they can to not tell me when someone is sick if there is a family get together because they know I will be paranoid and not come.

My mom is supposed to watch LO tonight but my brother was just there for the night and had the flu. I'm obligated to go where I need to go tonight and DH as well and I'm sick of feeling like I have to avoid everyone all winter, but I'm just so torn and paranoid on what to do.

Anyway, how do you handle everyday germs and exposing LO to sickness? What's your "rule"?
