omg no. I would have been so impatient and miserable by that point.

DD was born at 39w1d (7 lbs 3 oz). She probably could have stayed in there bc all I was doing was binge watching Netflix, but I was SO swollen with her and had horrible carpal tunnel. I was happy my water broke when it did.

DS was born at 38 weeks on the dot, and was 9 lbs 1 oz. If he had gone another 3 weeks, I probably wouldn't have been able to deliver him! It was hard to get around by that point, I was happy he came when he did as well. They were considering induction if he didn't arrive by 39 weeks bc he was measuring really large.

After having had a baby at 41+2 (LMP: 42w) and one at 38+4 (LMP: 39+1w) - I can tell you I liked being early a lot better. I didn't have an induction with either.

I went to 42 weeks with my son. I felt the same way- he was so easy to take care of inside me! We were induced at 42 weeks because he showed no signs of wanting to come out. I would've been ok with waiting another week, but my doctor wouldn't let us. His induction did NOT go well. He had meconium and he was sunny side up with his head tilted to the side. They kept upping the pitocin but since he wasn't in the right position to actually come out, his heart rate kept plummeting leading to an emergency c-section. He came out not breathing (for about 3 minutes). He was intubated twice for deep suctioning and then was 100% fine (thank God). I ended up with chorioamnionitis and a huge hemorrhage. So even though baby went to the NICU, I was in the hospital longer than baby!

All that said, I plan on going to 42 weeks with this baby as well. However, if this one isn't making progress to come out by that time I will probably have to do a repeat c-section :(

I am 100% comfortable waiting to 42 weeks, because a normal average gestation is 39-42 weeks. Some people go to 44 weeks even. Everyone in my family goes long- usually 6-11 days extra.

My feet were so swollen, and I had pulled muscles I couldn't take anything for, add to that the poor sleeping.... I was over being pregnant 2-3 weeks before she was born at 40 weeks.

I looked at it this way, having known friends with preemies that had poor chances of survival-I was incredibly grateful to be able to carry as long as I could (I had a coworker deliver 25 week twins that were STILL in the nicu when I RETURNED from maternity leave....boy did I have perspective) . I got miserable around 38 weeks and for good reason-my body got hypertensive this time around and he got to come early. I've known a few people to be perfectly comfortable at 42 weeks, though! Pregnancy is a shit show for me in general, though

I felt the same way until about 32 weeks. I was not mentally ready for him to come and kept saying all along that I would be fine with him being "late". But at 32ish weeks I really started to feel it. My feet started swelling very badly and my back was killing me. Sleep was a joke by that point. The funny thing is, my belly was on the small side and I gained about 35lbs total so it's not like I was huge. I ended up going into labor at 37w6d and while I wasn't mentally ready, I was more then physically ready!

I think I would have been okay past 40 weeks with my first, but not to 42 weeks. I was way too uncomfortable.

But my second? No way. I was miserable and in terrible pain. I ended up with a csection at 39 weeks (breech baby) but I was going to be induced then if she turned. I could barely walk, I was throwing up, I wasn't sleeping at all, having Braxton hicks constantly...I was a miserable pregnant lady. But also, towards the end there were several stories on another pregnancy forum I read of late losses, and I was having nightmares about losing her late in the pregnancy.

I leave things to the last minute. I'm currently 38w3d and still need to install car seat, pack hospital bag, and dig through 3 years of boxes for DS1s newborn clothes and gear. And now that I'm not working (I started my mat leave 2 weeks ago), I want some more days to lounge around and watch movies, get my nails done, do errands, etc. So I'd be happy for more time for those reasons. At this point I'm just hoping we don't need to get him out early because of my blood pressure. I planned everything around my due date. Any extra time after that I'll consider bonus. If he comes even 1 day late, I can sneak in a movie theatre date night with DH as my mom will be here by then and can babysit DS1.

ummm I made it to 41+3 involuntarily and it was uncomfortable. He was also pushing 9lbs by then so recovery was fun too! If I was relatively confident of my conception date I would definitely take 41 week induction vs. 42 natural!

I was actually sort of counting on making it to 41 weeks (end of semester things to take care of). I desperately wanted to avoid induction, and would have stayed pregnant until 42 weeks in order to do that. LO decided to come at 38+5. I didn't really start to get uncomfortable until the last 24 hours of my pregnancy.

No, no, no. And no. With DD I never got truly uncomfortable, had her at 36 weeks. With DS he was huge and by 38 weeks I was uncomfortable. At 39 weeks it was unbearable, I was in so much pain from how big he was and it was impossible to breath. I had him at exactly 40 weeks. I was set to be induced that morning. There was no chance I was gonna wait any longer. Thank goodness my midwife agreed!

I agree with others in that I was uncomfortable but okay with going to 42 weeks in order to avoid an induction. With my first, I didn't have to worry because she came at 40+4. I was induced at 41+3 with my second because her ultrasound and NST were okay but not good enough for them to be 100% okay with her staying in a few more days. Also, I had no signs so I probably would have been induced anyway.

Second one? I was SO ready for her to be born early. I was upset I want past 39 weeks, I wanted her out. Second pregnancy was way harder for me.

I was induced at 41+1 and I was fine with that. I had a pretty easy pregnancy so I wasn't "done" but I did have a little anxiety about possible complications as some others have mentioned. I was prepared to go late from the start (my mom went to at least 41 weeks with all four kids) so thinking that going in helped!

In retrospect, no. But if you'd asked me at 29 weeks, I would have said absolutely. I was ready to be done at 37 weeks.
