@daniellemybelle: then yeah, if you washed it in the machine three times, I'd probably cut my losses at this point!

@looch: It doesn't smell musty. I've washed it in the machine three times with hot water, no lingerie bag...

@lamariniere: I could try the sun. I have great luck with stains in the sun but I didn't think it would kill mold.

@looch: It's from Target so I should probably get over it! :silly:

@sarac: I have definitely learned my lesson!!!!

@daniellemybelle: it never hurts to call and ask! How much I paid for it would be top of mind...like is it worth it to you to bother? I hate buying just for the sake of buying, but given the cost of the detergents and all that, is it worth it?

Does it have a musty smell? I might try one last effort in the washing machine, with the suit in a lingere bag.

@daniellemybelle: seems pretty unlikely. I just try not to let mine hang out wet, so I hang them to dry in a really airy place if they're not immediately going in the wash.

Maybe wet it and let it dry in the hot sun? I've had fairly good luck getting minor stains out by sunning clothes.

@looch: Hmm. This was from water day at school. She did play in the sandbox and they had a mud pit. But the suit sat for a couple days before I washed it and I assumed it was mold from that.

Do you really think they would replace it if it got moldy from me not hanging it, OR if sand/mud got caught in it?

Are you sure it's mold, and not tiny grains of sand?

I would call the company, and explain. Maybe they'll send you a replacement.

I scrubbed and scrubbed and only kind of managed to improve my daughter's favorite swim suit, it was a total drag. It sat over the winter and somehow improved, so she's wearing it a bit this year. But I'm being religious about hanging her suits this year.

There are little black specks of mold on LO's bathing suit - she has only worn it once! I have tried soaking in vinegar, washing with vinegar, washing with OxiClean, washing with a mixture of vinegar & OxiClean... should I give up??? I was thinking of trying non-chlorine bleach, but is it much different than OxiClean? Am I crazy to think about putting it in boiling water...?
