when we had to do a syringe we laid her on her back, put it back towards here molar area, and did little bits at a time. like 5 pushes for 1ml. Then she started fighting hard so i practiced with her taking water out of a shot glass and she really liked that, and we gave her the med that way (this was after 6mo though). then she started fighting that, so now we are back to the syringe but she is sort of resigned at this point. if you have an opportunity to switch from zantac to prevacid i'd take it. you can get it flavored like grape and my lo takes it sooooooo much better than the zantac.

@YouGotMe: DS had a hard time with Zantac too, I thought because it was pretty thick. It didn't work for him anyway, so we never figured it out with that one. Good luck!

@Mrs.Someone: I used the bouncy chair this morning but she caught on and refused the same this evening.

She's on Zantac, I should look and see if I can get it flavoured. Honestly I don't blame her for spitting it out, it tastes pretty bad. Thanks :)

We went through this too, it was rough! Oddly, what worked best was putting him in the bouncy chair to take it. No clue why that was any easier for him than our laps, but it was. And just squirt a few ml at a time. Now he happily takes it all.

Also, is she on Omeprezole? If so, you can get it compounded with flavors to make her like the taste more.

Squeeze her cheeks so her mouth opens. Then point the syringe towards the back of her throat - as far back as possible so it's harder for her to spit it out. . Then blow in her face to make her swallow. For DS2, smaller amounts little by little worked best. If blowing doesn't work, I keep him horizontal and don't let him move. He eventually swallows it.

My LO is 17 weeks and has reflux. She has been on her medication since she was 4 weeks old and takes it twice a day. Recently she has started spitting it back out when we try to give it to her.

She doesn't take a soother and I'm at a loss on how to get her to swallow it. Any suggestions?
