I haven't had a cat since I was a kid myself, so I'm trying to remember how to raise a kitten! I'm super excited about it, but the thing is.... we have a dog. And I'm nervous about them getting along. I really want them to be able to play together. Normally, I would get an adult cat, but I have a feeling my dog would accept a kitten better than an adult. I'm planning on getting one from a local shelter. Has anyone introduced a kitten to a dog they already have? Any tips?</p> <p>Also, I have bought these items for future kitty cat:</p> <p>Litter Box/Scoop<br /> Food (Nature's Miracle, I believe)<br /> Hard Sided carrier with a door in the top<br /> Kong rubber curry brush<br /> Shallow stainless steel food dish<br /> Gravity waterer<br /> Scratch toy with ball<br /> Shweat Scoop Litter</p> <p>My DH is also planning on making our own cat tree/scratcher this weekend. We'll see how that goes! Lol. </p> <p>We are planning on introducing them VERY slowly. We have a separate bedroom that we have cleaned up to put the kitten in while we are getting them used to each other. Is there anything I should watch out for as far as kitten-proofing? Or litter training?</p> <p>Is there anything I should know/do/get before we bring home this little ball of fur?</p> <p>"Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur...
