@tysonja: I have 2 under 1.5 too and I've found, as hard as it is, early mornings work really well! I go at 5/5:30 so that I'm home by 6:30. When I get home I shower (since I can't guarantee ill get one if I don't before the kids are awake haha) and I've found that having the workout and shower done before they wake up really helps me get a good start to my day! It was really hard getting into the habit of waking up that early and going but now I depend on it! Good luck!

I've also been on a workout kick for the last five weeks or so. I've been exercising between 4 and 5 times a week and I'm feeling great! I've lost a little over five pounds and I can definitely see a difference, which is what's keeping me going. I hope I can keep it up, because I still have five-ish more pounds I'd like to lose and keep off :-)

@heartonastring: I know what you mean! Going back to work (and putting my son in daycare) really helped me to get back into my old routines and manage my time better.

I'm fortunate that I have a flexible P/T (0.6) work schedule so I can work out in the morning on my days off or at 3:30pm before picking my LO up from daycare (but the 3:30 classes are really quiet so they're not as fun). A couple of nights a week I go to the 7:30pm class after we put LO to bed. I really like the night classes because they have a good vibe so I'm motivated to go!

@mrsjyw: thanks so much!!! reading about your schedule encourages me that i can do it too... haha..
thankfully DH's job is physically rigorous, so he doesn't work out since he practically works out all day -- this should make it easier for us since we don't have to switch off. also, thankfully the boys are both sttn 12 hrs or so... i hate getting up in the morning though, and our evenings are often filled with meetings and other obligations. i guess i'll have to bite the bullet and do some mornings and some evenings!

sorry for the novel, i think i'm just trying to motivate myself haha

@tysonja: I only have one DS at the moment and DH and I share our schedules to accomodate both of us being able to work out!

DH and I both get home around 5 or 6 depending on the day and we do bathtime around 7. I usually go after DS is down around 8pm.

DH goes 2x during the week before work at 630am. And then on the wknd we usually pick one morning and switch off (he goes, then i go); and we also plan on bringing DS to gym daycare so we can workout together (once it warms up a bit).

The MAJOR part of our workout schedule working for me is two things: DS STTN and I am not sleep-deprived (unless of my own doing by going to sleep past midnight), and I wfh two days a week (those days I try to go at lunch if I can). while my mom watches DS. Also DH has a flexible morning schedule and I don't have to be in my office until 9am!

@Sammyfab: I'm hoping I'll be able to fit more workouts in once I'm back to work, but not sure because our daycare has a pretty early pick-up time. I'm so grateful to have a yearlong mat leave, and I don't want to complain about that, but there are some drawbacks to it!

@mrsjyw: so awesome! if you don't mind my asking, where/how do you fit going to the gym into your weekly schedule? :)
i would really like to go to the gym (shred is ok at home, but i like the treadmill etc..., and it's too rainy and cold outdoors for running), but i can't seem to figure out what would work for us. i'm a sahm with 2 under 1.5 at the moment... maybe the 30d shred is the best it gets for now! haha

I haven't felt this way about working out in so long. When I was single I loved going to the gym and seeing results. I miss feeling fit and strong. I feel like when I have down time I want to veg on the couch and relax but I really should get my butt back to exercising. I hate the showering and changing in and out of workout clothes...but that's just me making excuses.

Exercise in some form (gym, running, yoga) has been my main 'hobby' for the past 12 years. And ever since I started Crossfit 5 years ago, the gym has been my home away from home.

@heartonastring: I felt like I had very little time, energy and motivation to crossfit during my mat leave (like, I worked out maybe 30 times in 14 months). As soon as I went back to work I ramped up my workouts to 4-5x a week!

Yep! Love it! Wish I could find more time to get back to Crossfit more than once a week, but so long as I'm SAH (2.5 more months) it just isn't going to happen. I long for the days when I was able to make it to the gym four days/week.

Yup, I feels like this too. I have been doing a ton of running, and I think Ii still kind of hate it but I am addicted to the sense of accomplishment I get from going hard at the gym. I now get up and go at 6am, and I find that it is a great way to start my day. If I don't go in teh morning, then I probably won't make it. Also, my gym is in my building so I have no excuse.

About 3 years ago, I found a really good working out routine and was addicted when I started seeing the weight drop! It was exciting to fit into my thin pants and jeans again. It was a super good feeling. That seems like a lifetime ago though. Hopefully, I can start a good routine again but these snow days and cold winters are making me just want to snooze!

Congrats! I went through a phase like that after I had my DD.. it was such a great feeling to know I was fit and strong. Well, what did I do, I went and got pregnant :-/ It's harder to get the gym now with two kids so I've been doing more at-home type activities. It took all I had to do my squat challenge before hopping into the shower last night at midnight. I hope my schedule allows for more gym going in the future.

That is so great! It's so, so nice to actually enjoy something that is healthy and good for you.

I tried time and time again to be a runner, but I hate it. I enjoy classes but they never fit well with my schedule. I tried spinning which was ok, but I didn't love it. Working out or going to the gym was more of a chore than something I liked doing.

But I FINALLY discovered a workout that I love - swimming. I've been doing it for the past four weeks. It's doubly awesome because DH is helping more with dinners because I like to go right after work. Dinner is almost finished when I get home.

I always get kind of crazy about it from this time of season until spring, because we vacation in the spring all the time so I want to be swimsuit ready.
The other times of the year, I am just kind of meh about it. I will do it, but not with any spirit.

I've NEVER been the work out type. I've had several failed attempts at diets, gym memberships, etc. I've always been "skinny fat" fo rmost of my life, outside of hs when i was active in school sports.

I did April Shred last year trying to kick start some PP weight loss adn then plateaued when the wt just came off wo working out.

We signed up for the gym almost three weeks ago, and I'm on a work out kick (that's longer than any other time in my life before.) And the longest I've gone without gymming is two days? (trying to go every other day)

I'm not sure if it's that my life is in such a routine that it was easy to fit it in, my motivation of wanting to workout through my next pregnancy, DH's support/competition (as he is going regularly too)

But I've NEVER enjoyed working out and these days, I look FORWARD TO IT!

Anyone been through the same revelation?
