I was induced at 39 weeks due to GD; I had the pill shoved up there :silly: I think we did it twice over at least 8-12 hours and then I finally got to 3cm to get started on epidural/pitocin. Good luck!

@Goldengirl: how are you doing? Hopefully you're resting! Cervidil worked great for me. Your cervix may be sensitive if they do checks tomorrow or break your water.

I had an emergency induction for pre e that lasted 44 hours from check in to birth- it was long but I had a vaginal birth with minimal tearing and was not dilated at all at the start.

I wasninduced at 37 weeks and it was a long labor since I wasn't at all dilated and lo was still way high, but actually was a really lovely birth in the end! Cervidil, pit, Foley catheter all still had me at 4cm. I finally asked for an epi after about 28 hours after being admitted, took a nap and then fully dilated. Pushed for only 20 mins! My water never broke and lo was born en caul

No cervadil experience, but I was induced at 38 weeks due to PIH. The inserted a dose of prostaglandins and 3 hours later I had a contraction, my water broke, and then I was in active labor. No other interventions needed! Good luck, hope yours goes smoothly!!

Went in for my 38 week apt, and DH had planned a picnic afterwards I was so miserable. Instead was sent next door to ER, and three hours later rolled into a room for induction due to pre-eclampsia! I had the same drug, and Foley catheter wasn't bad. Positive experience all around, and had a successful vaginal delivery. Good luck!

I had an induction due to low platelets. I was given Cervadil. I had the first dose at 1 am and was 0 cm dilated. At 6 am I got the second dose and was still 0 cm dilated. At 6:55 am, my water broke. I got my epidural around 9 am after bloodwork confirmed by platelets were high enough. They checked me after the epidural at 9:30 am and I was almost 10 cm. I delivered her at 10:35 am.

I had cervadil and then had my water broken. I was contracting on my own so no pitocin was needed. I got an epidural, went to sleep, and when I woke up it was time to push! I pushed for 40 minutes and then DD was born. :) It was about 14 hours from walking into the hospital to holding my baby. Good luck!!

Thanks! I actually did not expect that I'd be this nervous, I think just the change of plans has thrown me for a loop since I was so focused on the whole "how do I know when contractions start" thing and induction was not on my mind! Hoping I can chill out a bit once things get underway.

I had an unexpected emergency induction as well and had a hard time coping with it. But once the shock settled, I realized I was going to have my baby in my arms in less than a day!

I didn't do cervadil, just pitocin drip because I was already 4 cm dilated. So no experience but good luck!! I'm excited for you! You're gonna do great :)

Breathe, you got this! I also had an unexpected induction at 38 weeks, but with cytotec, and it was slow and steady and a great experience. Relax, take it all in, and know you are being taken care of and baby is nice and safe. Good luck!

I had cervadil with my first. The positive was it worked quickly and I didn't need pitocin after having it. Hope you have a good experience!

So after a very long day, I am unexpectedly being induced tonight due to some issues with my placenta. I know it is the best decision for baby but I'm 2 weeks early and feel so unprepared and definitely freaking out a bit! Did not see this coming and now trying to quickly wrap my head around it all while grabbing random things from my house to bring back to the hospital before I check in.

I will be likely starting with the route of doing cervidil where they insert a tampon thingy with the drug in it. Haven't had much time to learn about it since this is all a bit last minute. I've chosen this over the foley catheter because it sounded a little less torturous, although I know anything can happen and might have to try several things to get stuff going since I'm not currently in any sort of labor.

Wondering if you have used this method, what was your experience like? Did it work? Was it okay? I think I'm looking for comfort more than horror stories lol. I am suddenly not feeling very brave about any of this!

Also can't even wrap my head around the idea that there will be a baby here soon... I think I'm in some sort of shock that hopefully will pass very soon :)
