We haven't travelled lately, but my almost 4 year old is totally in this phase. She had the child care ladies at the gym convinced that her name was Sophia and her sister was amber, and her swim instructor was calling her Shimmer by the end of the class

TSA has never asked LO her name (she's 3.5). They've talked to her, but never asked any important info. I'd like to think if they're asking a child their name, they know to expect some pretty funny answers. Levity still exists in the TSA world (which is hard to believe). :)

I think you'll be fine. My son never answers the questions from the agents, he just hides behind me and it's never been a problem.

I think you'll be totally fine with just her passport. I would hope TSA understands that littles can be unpredictable; I'm sure they ask most kids for their names and get no answer at all. I definitely would have been too shy at that age to say much! They have asked LO her name and she generally responds, but several times she hasn't and I just confirm to them what her name is and we've never had any issues.

There should be a "Ridiculous Things We Think About When We Have Kids" board for this one :)

We're traveling this weekend, and my 4 year old is in a phase where she's pretending to be whatever princess and when she gets asked her name (restaurants, parks, etc), she answers with "Rapunzel," "Elsa," etc. I know I'm overthinking this, but I'm imagining a scenario where TSA asks her her name and they're not as fluent in Disney as the rest of the world. We're taking her passport with us, and I'm guessing a copy of her birth certificate might be worthwhile as well, but any tips for making her understand the importance of telling people her real name? We've tried every which way (importance to do so if she got lost, getting in trouble with someone in uniform, saying "My name is LO, but right now I go by Princess,") and nothing's really sticking.
