I can't remember when we convinced DD to love the pacifier, but it definitely took time. We decided to keep at it, and now at 15 months our daughter is totally addicted to the pacifier. We also ultimately really liked MAM pacifiers. Those are the ones that stuck.

Are you sending a pacifier to daycare? LO's daycare asked that we send one tomorrow even though we've never been able to get her to take it. Maybe that will be another habit LO picks up at daycare. We'll be sending the MAM.

Another vote for MAM--only one he'll take--but he had no interest in it until he was 6 months old.

@Smurfette: Yes, we did! I  no cry sleep solution, let me know if you have any questions. I rocked, not nursed, to sleep and seriously could not even wrap my head around what our nights look like these days (quiet, peaceful, easy). Like you, we figured in the long run it was easier to not have to wean from a paci but in the moment... we would've done anything for him to take it!

@Smurfette: the hour habit? I honestly just kept trying. It got to the point where I would literally watch the clock to put her down at an hour. So I just started slowly trying to put her down sooner (50 mins then 40, etc etc) pretty soon we got down to 30 minutes and it was glorious. We usually hover around 15-30 minutes now nursing including. The big shift came for us when she started rolling to sleep on her stomach. Also I learned sometimes she will whine/cry for a brief second when I break the latch and put her down. Sometimes it's 5 minutes but then usually she falls back asleep.

P won't take a paci (weaned herself around 7 months). I just nurse her to sleep.... these days alot of times when she's done she'll start motioning to roll onto her side of the bed. I never pressed it though.

@Kemma: I don't think we can. She already is getting fussy and rubbing her eyes when we start bath time. I pop her off and rock her, bounce her, etc, doesn't work :(

@pelikila: we tried those by it was weeks ago. I will pull them back out and try.

@Smurfette: Have you tried a Wubbanub? If she likes to suck but just can't keep the paci in this may help. B wouldn't keep his paci in until we got our first Wubby and now we have a whole collection. He loves them.

Another vote for MAM. It's the ONLY pacifier my son likes. He's growing out of it at ten weeks because he'd rather try to shove his fist in his mouth, but we successfully use it for soothing, bedtime, nap times, and for additional sucking after nursing.

I wish I knew how. Lots of nights we nurse to sleep because I'm just too tired and it is the easiest way.

I keep trying to pop one in his mouth, but he won't suck it and it just falls out.

And I know he can suck on things, he lives sucking his knuckles and arms.

If you haven't already, try MAM pacifiers. A friend told me about them and how most of the babies in the nursery at church used MAM. Sure enough, it was a winner for C.

@Smurfette: I have no ideas on the paci but have you tried pushing her bedtime back a bit? I nurse my wee girl to sleep and it's always faster if she's reeally tired. Or could you try rocking her a bit once you pop her off the boob?

My LO liked a paci for.. a week and then acted like it was poisonous. We introduced a lovey around 4 months and he sucked on that, and then his thumb when I put him in his crib. So no tips just empathy!

We started nursing R to sleep a couple months ago but lately she is taking an hour + to fall asleep. I know she isn't eating the whole time. If I take her off too early she cries. Just now she popped off and was laying on the hobby for 5 mins and then started looking for the boob again.

When I try and trick her and put the pacifier in her mouth she gets mad. In the day she will suck for a little bit but can't keep it in her mouth.

Anyone have this problem? She obviously likes the sucking motion but how do I get her to take a pacifier?? We have tried numerous pacifier. Do they make one that looks like a boob? Cause I will buy it!
