We're dropping cable once our 2nd box gets here so that we can still watch TV in our bedroom and living room. It'll save us around $150/mo, which is much needed right now.

We've managed to be without cable for 2 years. We use an antenna to get our local channels and honestly we don't miss anything. We really don't watch a lot of tv anyways... Not that we get a lot of choices lol!

We've been cable free for about 5 years. We don't miss it - even sports. Now when there is something we want to watch, we're honestly like "when did we ever have time to do this kind of thing?" The only time I ever, ever miss cable is when I'm really sick and just want to veg and channel surf. I don't miss it enough to get it back tho!

DH and I have been cable-free for a year and a half now. We recently converted our neighbors over to the dark side too. You can find almost any show streaming online. There are websites like projectfreetv that stream shows, plus most networks do online streaming now too.

As for sports games, I know that was a consideration for my neighbors. I think they watch them streaming on the MLB/NFL websites.

I dont regret cancelling cable at all! Saves SO much money!

ETA: As for internet, we use the UK company Sky and pay extra to have unlimited usage (some of their companies put a cap on usage per month). It adds up to about $50/month.

oh i forgot to add while we have netflix & amazon prime, we also have a blockbuster store new us, an actual store, not the kiosk, and they have a program for $14 a month where you can rent whatever you want and just keep exchanging them for new ones, kind of like you would with netflix disks. we like it because we watch all the new releases right when they come out, and they always have tons of them so it's not like waiting for netflix to get a disk or tracking an available one down at a redbox. so between all those, we're never really lacking something to watch and we've almost eliminated commercials, which i think of as one of the worst parts of tv for you.

We use hulu and Netflix (and we're thinking about dropping our Netflix). We can find almost anything we want to watch online somewhere... but most of what we watch is politics and not sports.

Oh, Mister has Amazon Prime and we stream lots of stuff there too!

I love TV and am doing just fine with Hulu and Netflix. We supplement with other online but really there is plenty on netflix. We have had some problems with DS favorites shows (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) but now there is one video on Netflix.

@sorrycharlie: there are 2 types of channels you can get, uhf & vhf, they have combo antennas now that will get both. this website will let you enter an area and it will show you what channels you would be able to pick up using an antenna.

We don't have cable, but we get air channels through rabbit ears, so we have access to CW, PBS, Fox, and a couple others for free. We also have Netflix, and for college football games, we hook up my desktop to the tv and watch them online! It works for us.

We don't have cable and just stick with hulu. For sports, I know baseball teams all have online things to watch during the game that show who is on base, runs, etc. Plus, he gets a few football games randomly online. Also, if it's a huge game (game 7 NLCS champs, etc) we just go to a sports bar.

I don't know about sports, but you can watch most network shows right from networks online. I haven't used it, but a bunch of my friends use projectfreetv.com to watch things. We haven't had tv in over a year & a half, maybe even 2, and it was a adjustment, but we love it now!! Also aren't most major games on network tv? Because those you can watch in high def without cable, we choose not to have have our tv set up for it now, but we did with just an antenna since our tv doesn't have an internal one.

We don't have cable. We watch sports on local channels. So, if the game isn't on locally, we either don't watch it or go to a sports bar to watch it. We use Netflix and while the streaming is limited, their dvd supply is great! We stream and get 2 discs.

so to save money, we're considering dropping the tv portion of our fios account and keeping the internet. I'm looking at hulu and netflix, is there really enough available to make up for lack of tv?

my husband is particularly concerned about missing sports games..
