awwww i know it's hard. being sick while pregnant is so sucky! i just got over one a few weeks ago. my go to medicine nyquil, i would stareat longingly and then sigh. i did take a benadryl allergy once when i was in the deep thick of it in th e middle of the night, and i just couldn't stop sneezing and a runny nose that wouldn't stop, and i broke down and took it. but other than that i stuck to lots of water, and tried to get as much rest as possible. even though the cold went away, it still took a few weeks to get rid of the cough. oh the things us mommies go through.

I was so sick while pregnant! For exactly 9 weeks out of my pregnancy, I had a cold. At separate times. One of them was so bad I lost my sense of smell and taste for 2 weeks :(

I took cough syrup (robatussin), amoxicillin, and drank a ton of liquids + used the vaporizer at night. It was rough! I hope you feel better!

I was sick a couple weeks ago with a doozy of a cold. I totally blamed pregnancy, as I haven't been sick for 2.5 years and I work daily with sick university students.

Anyhow, I spent a lot of time laying on the couch, sleeping, drinking tea, drinking hot water with lemon and ginger and...the biggest help...using a neti pot a few times a day to clear out my sinuses.

It really sucks being sick while you're pregnant...I hope you feel better soon :)

Ugh! I was super super sick with a cough and cold for my last 2 months of pregnancy. It was so awful that I burst into tears on many occasions! I used hydrasense (to clear my stuffy nose), took cough drops non-stop and drank hot water with lemon and honey.

Hope you feel better soon!

I have been sick twice so far this pregnancy and feel like I'm coming down with a cold again.
The first time, I was so sick (ear and sinus infection) that my doctor sent me to the ER.
I was prescribed antibiotics both times but suffered through my sickness not taking anything, including the antibiotics. I was MISERABLE but felt like it was the right thing to do.

I'm so, so sorry. I was sick while pregnant (and now while breastfeeding) and it just sucks. Really, there is no other way around it. I think Rachiecakes said it best - OJ, tea, cough drops, warm washcloths and......hot baths...up to 100 degrees. :) Also, Tylenol is acceptable while pregnant. It's not as awesome as Ibuprofen but, it will do.

Hang in there! On an optimistic note, I think I have been much healthier during pregnancy than normal - I think my resistance really has improved during the last 8 months. I had 1 bad cold early on, and then felt great since. Maybe this is your one and only until those babies get here!

It's hell. I'm sorry. I hope you feel better soon!
I've been using the neti pot, hot facecloth across my nose, cough drops, lots of orange juice and tea.

I was sick with a cold this summer (first trimester) and had a cough for about a month! Blah. Got sick a couple of weeks ago and it went away much more quickly (I drank lots of OJ and Dr. Pepper, maybe that's the trick?). All I can say is I feel for you and hope you get better soon! Hot tea/water with lemon is supposed to be a great natural cure. I took Unisom at night to help me sleep (since Nyquil was out) and that REALLY helped me get some rest in--I would recommend that if you can't sleep through symptoms. For a virus, I wouldn't think antibiotics would be any help?

My first pregnancy I got a nasty cold at least once. It was miserable. All I wanted was my NyQuil hahaha. My second pregnancy, I had a toddler in daycare. I got sick as frequently as she did! It. Was. Horrible. I got two stomach bugs and a million colds. She shared everything with me. (and almost NOTHING with my DH, I wanted to kill him)

I just got over some horrible food poisoning. It was so awful- the cramping from the food poisoning was giving me worse contractions and I was just miserable. I ended up only sucking on ice chips for 24 hours while it all passed over me.

Ughhh, I'm just getting over a bad cold but am still in the "sniffle sniffle, cough, cough, cough, etc" stage. HATE IT! I took Tylenol for the headaches/sore throat and had 4 mllion cough drops with VItamin C in them I also broke down and did nasal spray two nights when I couldn't breathe through my nose and my throat was on fire.

@MrsTiz: I read online that Tylenol Cold medicine is usually OK as long as you don't take the "Multi-Symptom" kind. The article said to try and target what your worst sypmtom is and take the kind that addresses that. If your doctor said its OK I wouldn't worry about it though!

I had a terrible cold at 5 weeks. It knocked me out for 4-5 days and then lingered for a couple more weeks! It SUCKED. I just stayed on the couch all day drinking water and gingerale and eating crackers. I was so relieved when I finally started feeling better.

I have pretty much been sick non-stop since the Labour Day weekend, can you guess I'm over it? Septmeber was mystery illness, basically like the flu, but I wanted to eat....but nothing stayed in! That tapered slightly as October began, but last Thursday I woke with a head cold, and it eased on the weekend, but kicking my butt as we speak.....I am 39+5 and would just love to catch a break right now!

Have taken nothing for any of it, I wouldn't usually non-preggo, so just dealing....painfully!

I have been fighting something off for over a week. It really sucks to not be able to take my plethora of over-the-counter meds! I went to the doctor last week b/c we were having company last weekend. Since I'm preggo, they gave me some pansy antibiotics, and after taking them for 7 days, I'm still coughing up a lung. Ugh! DH is insisting that I go back, but I'm pretty sure the doctor won't give me anything else since he seemed nervous about what to prescribe in the first place.

Did you get sick while pregnant? How did you deal? I'm being a total baby about it.
