With DD2, we got one blanket. If they like that kind of thing, I think it can be a great gift. Also, maybe take some food for mom to eat for lunch or breakfast. Ever. It's my #1 recommendation for friends when they are making baby registries and, without fail, I get a phone call from them raving about its magic powers. I love that thing!!<br /> @sorrycharlie: for a second+ time mom, I like to give something like money towards a PP doula/ night nurse if she's having one help out (no better gift than sleep!), or even a manicure/pedicure, after reaching out to her husband/partner to see if he is willing to give mom some much-needed toddler and baby-free time. My MIL took me out for a pedicure within the week after LO2 was born and it was such a treat.
