He only got gifts from parents so nothing would have been expected from friends! Bringing a tasty dessert or something else to eat would be plenty. If you feel obligated to do a gift then I think a restaurant gift card to do a celebratory meal would be above and beyond. DH would have even just liked a card to 7-11 so he could buy his slushies! Haha.
