It was my husband's #1 choice, but I, too, couldn't get past the meaning. I'm Jewish so it's particularly poignant as maror (bitter herbs) are part of the Passover Seder. I decided if we were going to use it I'd need her middle name to be Joy to sort of counteract the bitter, and life is truly bittersweet. However, we went in a different direction entirely. But my children’s first initials are prominently displayed in a public location with no further information, and I’m really afraid of having “PEE” displayed, so I’d have to overwhelmingly love an E name to be able to use it. I know this makes little sense, but it’s a major part of my life/work, and I’m not sure how to get around it ;)</p> <p>@LBee: Laurel is on my list, but it’s the name of a nearby town, so it may be a no go. With that said, my son has a not very popular name and we know 2 kids in his grade with similar names.
