the elimination diet has had an amazing effect on the diaper rash. Great that she's feeling better, but sad as it looks like no ice cream for me this summer :(

We have been to a dermatologist several times and they have made no mention of food allergies as a cause. My LO has flare ups from time to time and there doesn't seem to be a food link. We use Cetaphil body wash and the special Cetaphil eczema body lotion. This seems to keep everything under control. When she does a flare up, we have a prescription to use. On her face, we use Vaseline and that works really well.

@Hanasu: My friend swears by the aveeno moisturizing oil. It goes on pretty light but adds a lot of moisture.

Yes, dairy was the worst offender for my friends' twins...even the smallest amount made them react...she has to read food labels like crazy...I guess some sandwich meats have a small amount of dairy and that would be enough to cause a reaction. And basically most fruits caused a reaction - mostly berries.

Mustela products have done wonders for my LO's eczema and cradle cap. And cutting down on baths.

Diaper rash we haven't solved yet. We use an Arbonne herbal diaper cream but the current flare up wont go!

thanks guys, keep em coming! I don't eat much for citrus anyway and only use a really clean detergent (cloth diapers).

I have a feeling it's the dairy.

It is allergy related. In addition to dairy, soy, and wheat, citrus can also be an offender....and basically anything that she's allergic to.

I used Aquaphor on my LO and it helped a bit. Also try a gentle bath and shampoo (we use California Baby Super sensitive) as well as detergent free of dyes & perfumes.

I'm off dairy, soy and wheat, so I hope that makes a difference. She actually only gets a bath once a week anyone (what can I say, second kid). I'm nervy to use the steroid cream. We had to with my first but I don't like it.

I have heard it is food allergy related. Removing dairy and soy tends to help.

I have eczema but so far LO doesn't. My friend has twins with really bad eczema and it turned out to be related to food allergies through her breastmilk. They still have it but much more controlled. She has various creams for them - steroid cream, protopic ointment as desonide ointment. Maybe you need a referral to a dermatologist. Another thing that she said helped was adding a small amount of bleach to their bath water...scary sounding but the babies' dermatologist said to do it and she said it helped.

Aw, sorry to hear this! Baby Y had a mild case. We switched to a gentler baby wash, stopped bathing him every day, and started using the Aveeno eczema lotion every night. It did the trick. Our doctor also prescribed hydrocortisone, but we never needed it.

When LO's eczema is really bad we put lotion on her twice a day, plus a little bit of hydrocortisone on the bad spots. In her bathwater we put several drops of baby oil and rub it into her skin, too.

I hope your LO gets better soon!
