Aww, that sucks!! We've been together so long that I think it's ok to return some of his gifts. I do feel kinda bad/guilty, but I would feel worse if I just didn't use it and it was a waste of money.

For Xmas he got me a winter coat which I liked but didn't love... and it was too small so I had to return it anyways (and didn't get anything else). For my birthday back in April, he got me a Tory Burch wallet which I thought was kind of plain so I returned it for Bloomingdales store credit. I went back last month and found another Tory Burch wallet that I loved so I bought that with the credit.

I worry about him getting ripped off. I have helped picked out a few of the jewelry items he has purchased for me and have LOVED them. I know this was a spur of the moment purchase because he did it real quick while we were at the mall. I'm pretty sure it was on clearance cause the sale take was taken off but the regular price tag was still on the box. He did get me a Gator hoodie as well which was really cute but to small. He was heart broken about that so I would hate to mention anything about the jewelry.

For the most part he is really good about buying gifts. WAY better than me but I am starting to catch on ;-) This year he got a humidor & a meat smoker which were two things he had been wanting for over a year! SURPRISE!!

If he is overpaying for low quality I would say something. I have exchanged a few things hubs has given me. And he has exchanged a few things I've given him. We both want the other to have exactly what they want. No hurt feelings. Especially now that we are married and finances are joint I don't want our money being spent on something that isn't perfect.

Oh that's tough! It's one thing if you just don't like the style so much, but when you also know that it's not well made and he's maybe getting ripped off-- that's harder. How well does he take hints? Could you point him to websites/stores that you like before Christmas?
DH is snobbier than me in where he shops, so while sometimes I haven't always loved what he gave me, it has always been good quality, just not always something I would have picked out. He's also been a good learner and now usually gets things that I like :) This year I told him exactly what I want for Christmas, though.

Have you ever been giving a gift from your SO that you didn't like? If so how did you react? Did you keep it, return it or exchange it?

I received jewelry this weekend for our two years which is tomorrow. DH thinks he is buying really nice jewelry (he called it "fancy") when it is really cheaply made, I'm not sure it's even gold plated. He bought it at JCP's jewelry department & even bought the 3 year warranty for it. Last year for Christmas he bought me tiny diamond earrings from some random website that were white colored stones. Both times I smiled, acted excited and wear the jewelry often because I appreciate the kind gesture & I would hate to poo on his parade.
