Good luck! We tried twice without success - though now 26 weeks pregnant from a miracle, natural cycle before moving onto IVF. It was not too bad for me - I did both cycles with Letrozole/Femara and had very few side effects from the meds though my lining was thin on the first attempt.

Hope that it works for you!!

@Ms.SK: Thanks for checking your paperwork. I'm wondering a bit since right before the doc did the actual IUi procedure he warned me again about the risk of multiples.

I think they did the first test a week later and my numbers were higher than normal so that was me second indication it may be twins. I woul have to go pull out my paperwork for actual numbers. I also just had a hunch, sometimes you just feel it.

Thanks everybody.

@Ms.SK: I'm a bit concerned about multiples as I know I had more than one follicle. I do have one potential blocked tube. How fast did your HCG levels rise? Mine was at 259 for my first beta than 614 for my my second beta. First Beta was 15 days after the IUI. Last LMP April 4th. IUI April 16th.

I am pregnant from our first round of IUI (clomid/ovadril). I'm expecting twins as I had 2 mature follicles before my push. Pleas be ready for anything since you ovulate on your own. I would schedule another appointment or at least speak with a nurse. Good Luck!!!

I have ovulation issues a possible blocked tube. We tried for over a year and then the OB/GYn had me do an unmonitored Clomid Cycle that failed. I then went to the RE and did all of the testing We did Clomid Day 3-7, than Gonal -f injection on Day 9 than a trigger shot on day 11 and IUI on Day 13. All monitored. I just found out May 1st that we are pregnant. It's very early by my HCG numbers are rising nicely.

@AbbyCadabby: I don't have experience with IUI but am going to try IVF this summer so I know what it is like to be overwhelmed by the whole RE process. Definitely ask a lot of questions... I've been calling my fertility clinic probably WAY too often... the staff you work with should expect patients to have questions and find the time to answer them all, even if you ask the same thing twice! Wishing you all the best with the HSG and IUI. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I did 3 Clomid + IUI cycles. The Clomid gave me hot flashes, but that's about it. I was always monitored by ultrasound on Day 11 of the cycle.

I ovulated too, but Clomid makes it "stronger."

None of the cycles were successful.

@AbbyCadabby: I agree with the others, make sure you get clarification! Usually clomid is taken CD3-7, sometimes CD5-9. It just depends on the doctor. Good luck with the HSG, hopefully everything is clean and clear!

Eta: my first RE appointment was very overwhelming, and I knew I had fertility problems. What helped me though was to write down any questions I had and take that list with me. I had a notebook I kept everything in and would take notes during the appointment or write it all down afterward.

@Mrs. Jacks @Mamamoose: Yeah, you're right. I generally like to consider myself a pretty educated consumer but I have to admit that when it comes to anything medical, I feel incredibly overwhelmed and usually just do what the doctor tells me! I don't know what it is about doctors that I find so intimidating. I DO need to ask more questions and get more clarification on things.

Ditto Mrs. Jacks on asking for clarification! It sounds like your doctors aren't doing a great job of communicating to you about the process and how it will work and why they are suggesting the path they are suggesting.

Thanks everyone!

@Mrs. Bee: we've been ttc for about 8 months but truthfully, my husband is on medication which often makes it hard for him to um..."finish", if you know what I mean. On top of that, the pressure gets to him which makes it even more difficult. So most of the 8 months although we were technically ttc, we weren't doing it very successfully. That's why we finally decided on IUI.

@sweetkate: We're seeing an RE but I don't think she is going to monitor me. All I know about the process is that I'm supposed to do bloodwork on CD2 then an HSG between CD5-10. I'm not even sure when I'm supposed to be taking the clomid. The whole process overwhelms me!

I got pregnant on our second iui but I was on follistim (injections) not clomid. I never responded to clomid but I don't ovulate on my own at all. Is your dr going to monitor you? Are you seeing an ob or a reproductive endocrinologist?

We have been TTC for 14 cycles & my doctor has said that he would like for me to start on Clomid after this cycle. He said that for women who ovulate regularly, Clomid actually allows us to possibly release more than one egg which increases the potential for pregnancy. He said that it also increases the chance for multiples (25% twin rate) but I think we'll probably take that risk.

Good luck!!

i'm not sure why you would be put on clomid if you're ovulating fine except so that they know exactly when you're ovulating. with clomid+iui you get an ovulation trigger shot and then they do the iui.

i got pregnant on my second clomid + iui cycle, but miscarried at 8 weeks 6 days.

My husband and I have decided to give IUI a try and I'm wondering about other people's experience with it. We're TTC for #2 and I seem to be ovulating just fine but my doctor is going to put me on clomid and ovidrel, though I'm not entirely sure why. (At the time of the initial appointment, I didn't know enough to ask why but I've since done some reading up and my understanding of clomid and ovidrel is that they're supposed to help ovulation so now I'm a bit stumped.)

How has clomid affected you? How many of you got a BFP after one round of IUI?
