@LAZB: I didn't eat dairy or soy from when LO was 3 months to 13 months. Even now, she still can't eat dairy at 19 months--so most of our meals at home are dairy free. The other girls have good suggestions.

Trader Joe has a ton of dairy free stuff, if you have one near you. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk for milk, the So Delicious brand of coconut coffee creamer and ice cream if I felt like I really needed it--but I preferred popsicles and a lot of popsicles are dairy free.

Any recipe you can make at home (like pancakes, waffles, soups, stews) you can sub almond or coconut milk for regular milk and there's a soy-and-dairy free "butter" you can buy by Earth Balance (in the red tub).

Sandwiches: watch out for deli meats that have casein--a lot of them do. Don't use cheese, but instead use hummus or avocado slices.

snacks: chips and salsa (most tortilla chips are just corn and vegetable oil); hummus and pita;all fruits and veggies; tons of specialty items like the baked peas, crackers, etc from Trader Joe; guacamole, Lara bars. Popcorn.

dessert: You can buy Enjoy Life cookies and even chocolate bars. Lots of places (like Trader Joe) have dairy free chocolate chips for baking. You can make any cake or cookie recipe using the substitutes I already mentioned

Breakfast: Lots of cereals are dairy free. oatmeals, eggs and sausage--basically anything without obvious dairy like cheese.

Dinner: I tend to cook the old standby 1 meat + 2 veggies combos for our dinner, so it's easy to avoid dairy that way. I stay away from most casseroles because they usually call for cans of creamed soup, or cheese, or other stuff like that.

You get used to it! My first 2 months were the hardest and the it was easy-peasy from there.

Trader Joe's has a bunch of dairy free baked goods. They have vegan cookies that are amazing! I had to cut it out completely. Like including as ingredients in things. I'm not gonna lie, it sucks. But I did lose weight! :)

Google cashew cheese sauce and enjoy the endless dairy free possibilities: scalloped potatoes, pasta dishes, casseroles. We are vegan and cashew cheese sauce is usually made every week.

I'm sorry, no dairy is hard I did it for awhile. I missed cheese so bad! One thing that helps is going to a health food store like sprouts for things you miss. They have dairy free cheeses, ice cream, cookie dough ect which is nice every now and then.

I also just heart star bucks finally has coconut milk as an alternative for their drinks!

@LAZB: I had a dairy protein allergy when I was young that I grew out of, strangely enough it came back during pregnancy. I have avoided it even after DD's birth, as I fear she also may have the allergy. I do consume it in moderation (a serving every other day maybe), and we both do fine.

I eat soy or almond yogurt. I also drink unsweetened vanilla almond milk--mostly in soy protein shakes. I eat hard boiled eggs in lieu of other protein snacks, like string cheese. There is an ice cream called 'Tofutti' that has been around for ages that I like. SO Delicious coconut milk ice cream is yummy too.

Good luck!

My main replacements were coconut milk for milk, and avocado for spreading on bread. Other than that I realized dairy was not a main component in most meals. The thing that helped me the most in the early days was not having any dairy in the house so that there were no temptations and DH just had to go along with it for a few weeks. :)

Just wanted to wish you good luck... I have had temporary lactose intolerance before (and am going through it again, after being able to eat cheese and stuff for awhile!) and it gets easier with time! <3

Ugh so sorry! I've been eliminating dairy and soy since LO was 3 months old and she's 10 months old now, so I know you probably feel overwhelmed because literally it seemed like dairy was in everything I was used to eating! Things that I've been eating: breakfast--cereal, almond milk, toast (I use daves killer bread), "butter"(earth balance), jelly, eggs
Lunch and dinner--Amy's dairy free burritos, chili, soups, pasta with red sauce, salads, any protein with rice and sauce usually in crockpot, Asian food is usually dairy free...there is more but I can't think of everything! As for snacks I'll eat fruits, hummus, pretzels, chips, etc. oh and they make a pretty yummy ice cream sandwich I eat every night by this company called so delicious!
I found this link helpful--https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tSt1VyIgb6Li5FMjMer6xZA&single=true&gid=0&output=html but that is for both dairy and soy elimination.
Good luck, it'd so hard but made a huge difference for us. I'm eating soy now and it seems to be okay and will introduce dairy soon.

L spits up A LOT, is incredibly gassy, and has a rash, so her pediatrician thinks she may have a sensitivity to something in my diet. He suggested I pay attention to my diet to see if she reacts after I eat something in particular. Long story short, I had a big bowl of ice cream the other day, and starting after her next feeding, her rash got worse and spread, so I'm going to try cutting dairy to see if that will help.
I've been doing it the last couple of days, but it's tough! Any suggestions for easy dairy free meals and snacks?
