We skipped the sippy and went rt to straw at 5.5 months when we started solids. Didn't have more than a cpl oz of water a day since he was still nursing full time.

We gave him water out of a regular bottle with a slow flowing teat starting at 5 months because it was hot! We tried not to give him more than 6oz a day. The rest of his fluid intake was breastmilk. We didn't transition to a sippy until 9m because he just didn't get it before that (we offered him one though with every meal and then gave him the water out of a bottle).

Honestly, we waited until she was 12 months, but we starred off in a sippy cup so she wouldn't associate it w/ a bottle.

We started water and straw cup at 6 months. LO has never gotten the zippy cup (but I didn't keep offering because she picked up the straw really fast).

I let LO have water when I introduced solids at six months. At first I just gave her a sip or two from an open glass. About two weeks ago we introduced a sippy cup and let her try using a straw, and she picked that up pretty much immediately. She's 8 months now. She just has a couple sips when eating, but she still gets most of her nutrition from nursing so I'm not too worried about water.

i waited longer before starting the sippy cup (and later learned that straw cups are better). But i don't think there is any reason not to, i just hadn't bought one and he was fine drinking water out of a bottle. He wasn't having too much at that age because he was still BFing alot and i figured that was hydrating him all he needed. in the summer though, i told anyone else who was watching him when i wasn't there that they could offer him water and he would drink it no problem.

LO is almost 6 months & we introduced a sippy cup at the same time as solids, about 2 weeks ago. She is a champ with a sippy - better than holding her own bottle! We fill it up with water so it's easier to get out but I only let her drink about an ounce. I don't want her to fill up on water & not drink breastmilk/formula.

Forgot to say: The first time she tasted water she was like, what the? But she has started to like it as we offer it more, especially after solids. She loves holding the cup.

My LO is 8 months and still doesn't understand sippy and straw cups. And when she does manage to get some water in her mouth she acts like it's poison. She still nurses a ton during the day so I don't think she really needs water...it's mostly just to practice. I wouldn't stress about it!

We started a sippy and straw cup at 6 months. She didn't really get either til 9 months. She would maybe drink an oz at a meal.

The first year of life is a blur, even though I went through it 2x. haha.
I think you can start introducing a sippy at 6 months though!

I really don't remember what I started with, but by 9-11 months they were drinking from a straw zoli, straight from a cup and using a regular straw. At 6 months old maybe a couple of ounces/day of water.

My LO is 6 months and I'd like to start offering her some water - one because she's started solids and two because it's going to start to get warm soon - hopefully. How much water were your kids drinking at that age? And did you start with a sippy cup - this seems like such a stupid questions but she seems too young for a sippy cup....maybe I just don't want her to grow up :bummed:
