@sarbear: I'll have to keep this in mind when the time comes to go glider/recliner shopping! We have an extra couch that's in the office which will be a nursery in the future, but not sure it'll be comfy or not for future intended uses with the baby.

@ladyfingers: This is the chair that we went with too. We didn't get the ottoman though. We went with a tan/linen fabric. We just ordered it on Sat, said will be here in 8-12 weeks. But it was by far the most comfy one that we sat in while looking.

I also have a glider from Best Chairs and LOVE it. I haven't spent too much time in it yet because LO is still on the way, but it was by far the most comfortable one out of any of them. I sat in some of the more "stylish" gliders at Buy Buy Baby and they were all either so hard or too shallow seat-wise. This is not the upholstery we got -- we got the navy with white piping -- but this is the chair we have and we have a matching ottoman. If you have a Buy Buy Baby near you I'd recommend going there, they have a very extensive selection.

@sarbear: A recliner sounds super comfy and plush. I think of a Lazy Boy when I hear recliner. Ha!

we also went with a non-baby 'glider' like @winniebee. we use a recliner in his room. it's much more comfortable for nights when he won't sleep unless we are holding him(mainly when he's sick/teething). and we got it in black(i know! not a nursery color, but it goes, i swear! lol) so when he's done with it, it'll go with the rest of our furniture

I have the track arm glider from RH Baby and Child. I got white linen, but they just came out with grey. It's high back, comfortable, but a little more than your $500 target. I couldn't find much in the $500 range. It was either $250 range or closer to $1k. But wait for a 20% off sale, prob after Christmas they'll have one.

I'm looking at this one in grey. It's reasonably priced, gets good reviews and comes in a charcoal-ish colour: http://www.target.com/p/little-castle-charleston-swivel-glider-collection/-/A-14236372

@birdofafeather: Just looked it up and it's exactly the same design as the Luca glider, although Luca is 950 or so. Thanks : )

Hm, mine was pricier, but I got the graham glider from west elm. Waited for a sale and ordered it from the store so I didn't pay for shipping. LO isn't here yet but I sit in it all the time and love it thus far. You'll need an ottoman of some sort, since I'm short too and my feet need something to rest on. But otherwise, it fulfills most of your requirements!

I ordered the Sona Glider from Best Chairs. It's not the most stylish piece, but from what I've heard and tried, it's the most comfy. Definitely tall enough to lean back and fall asleep in.

Mine is a "Best Chair" and I love it! It even leans back so you can put your feet up (perfect for sleeping in!) This is a link to what I think is my exact chair at my local furniture shop, and the upholstery options are endless. http://www.babys1st.com/products.php?idprod=342&idcat=142

I highly recommend trying the "Best Chair" brand.... :) Good luck!

I have done tons of research and cannot decide on a glider.

My priorities are:
1) super comfortable
2) high back (can rest your head) - I'm only 5'4
3) charcoal color
4) around $500

Most reviews are not good for any glider. I've sat in the ones at my nearest BRU and Pottery Barn and am not satisfied yet.

Some specific gliders I've looked into are the Luca Glider and Babyletto. I'd consider the chair type too, but would prefer an upholstered one.

Please give me the good and the bad on your glider!
